Former Iowa redshirt sophomore RB Barkley Hill transferred to Northern Iowa.
The former Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year never panned out for the Hawkeyes. In fact, he never saw the field over two years in Iowa City. He wouldn't have seen it much in 2014, either, as Iowa returns Mark Weisman, Damon Bullock, Jordan Canzeri and LeShun Daniels. Instead, Hill will be one of the Panthers' best offensive weapons. Iowa redshirt sophomore RB Barkley Hill will transfer.

Hill reportedly has his eyes on Northern Iowa, though we'll wait for official confirmation on that front. The former Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year was a bust in Iowa City. A knee injury cost him his first season on campus in 2012, and he didn't see the field last year. Iowa returns Mark Weisman, Damon Bullock, Jordan Canzeri and LeShun Daniels, ensuring it probably would have happened again. Hill won't have to wait long to seek revenge if he feels wronged by a coaching staff which buried him on the depth chart last year. He'll be eligible to play immediately in 2014 if he transfers to the FCS level, and NIU opens the 2014 season against the Hawkeyes.

Updating a previous item, the knee injury suffered by Iowa freshman RB Barkley Hill will force him to miss the 2012 season.

Hill suffered the injury during Saturday's scrimmage and could not place any weight on the leg afterwards. The position almost seems cursed for the Hawkeyes, after around a half dozen or so of their running backs will miss significant time due to injury or suspension. Hill was listed as the third back behind projected starter Damon Bullock.

Running back Barkley Hill will be given the opportunity to earn much playing time in 2012.

The incoming freshman ran for more than 6,000 yards in high school and hopes to keep on running with the Hawkeyes. It is entirely up to him as attrition and injuries have created a void at running back – a void that Hill is more than capable of filling.
