Packers selected UCLA DL Datone Jones with the No. 26 overall pick.
Finally, the Packers have replaced Cullen Jenkins. Jones (6-4, 283) totaled 13.5 career sacks, 36.5 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles as the lynchpin of UCLA's defense, playing both 3-4 end and three-technique tackle. Jones has short arms (32 3/4") not unlike 2012 first-rounder Melvin Ingram, but plays with aggression and active hands. Jones showed short-area explosion at the Combine with a 1.63 ten-yard split, also repping 225 pounds 29 times. Greg Cosell has compared Jones to a smaller Richard Seymour. He's going to be primarily an inside pass rusher for a Green Bay team looking to get bigger and more physical on defense. Thu, Apr 25, 2013 11:02:00 PM

UCLA DL Datone Jones ranks as former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah's 44th overall prospect.

We like Jones quite a bit more due to his versatility to win as an edge rusher or inside. There were plenty of times where he was stuck hand fighting at the line of scrimmage, but when asked to purely get upfield Jones delivered strong first contact with leg drive to push.

UCLA DL Datone Jones visited the Patriots on Monday.

Jones is one of our favorite prospects in this class due to his versatility to win from the outside or inside in pass rushing situations. He hand fights a bit too much at the line of scrimmage, but there's a realistic chance Jones is selected in the top 20.

UCLA DL Datone Jones visited the Titans on Thursday.

Don't be surprised if Datone Jones is selected in the top 20 picks. The UCLA pass rusher is aggressive on the edge and can win with strength and quickness on the interior. he hand fought a bit too much in college, but when determined to get upfield, Jones is tough to stop.

UCLA DL Datone Jones worked out for the Falcons on Saturday.

Jones is a possibility for pick No. 30, but we doubt he lasts that long on April 25. The Bruin pass rusher wins with strength and aggression on the edge and shows the versatility to work inside with quickness. He hand fights a bit too much at the line of scrimmage, but when not hesitating Jones is a force.

After watching UCLA DL Datone Jones, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes the pass rusher has "explosive hands."

"He consistently jolts, separates and gets to the ball," Jeremiah tweeted. "Good balance too." During Senior Bowl practices, Jones was a force with aggression on the edge to create that initial space to operate and quickness on the inside. That pass rushing versatility will only help him in the future, but Jones did tend to hand fight a bit too much at the line of scrimmage. Jeremiah added that he prefers Jones to Alex Okafor, and we strongly agree.

The Senior Bowl's Phil Savage listed six prospects as future three-down, sub-package defenders in the NFL.

In Savage's list, BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, Florida defensive tackle Shariff Floyd, UCLA defensive lineman Datone Jones, Oregon outside linebacker Dion Jordan, LSU defensive lineman Barkevious Mingo and Georgia inside linebacker Alec Ogletree are included. They are listed under the category, "3-3-5 package (with OLB as DE)". The names of the players come as part of a post featured on the NFL's base "11" personnel.

Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports the Jacksonville Jaguars will work out UCLA DL Datone Jones and CB Sheldon Price.

The Jaguars will be looking to add defensive linemen and cornerbacks this off-season, so these workouts make a lot of sense. Jones is a potential 4-3 closed end as well as a three technique defensive tackle. Price is in the mold of the bigger cornerbacks head coach Gus Bradley worked with in Seattle, checking in at 6'2" and nearly 180 pounds.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt says the feeling is that UCLA DL Datone Jones "has to" play DE in a four man front in the NFL.

Jones stood on his combine numbers and only did the position drills at the school's pro day on Tuesday. We think Jones can be a solid edge defender along with an impactful interior pass rusher due to his combination of strength and quickness off the snap.

UCLA DL Datone Jones registered an official 4.80 forty at the NFL Combine.

Jones' 10 yard split came in at 1.63 seconds. The UCLA Bruin will play all along the defensive line and showed a willingness to crush the opposition on first contact. However, too often he decided to hand fight at the line of scrimmage. We expect Jones to be a top-40 selection.

When asked who the "next big thing" will be from the 2013 draft class, CBS Sports' Pete Prisco answered with UCLA DL Datone Jones.

Prisco cited Jones' dominant Senior Bowl practices, even when facing Eric Fisher, as evidence. Jones did have a great week of drills and offers a lot of positional versatility in terms of rushing for the edge or inside. Still, he was caught hand fighting too much at UCLA, something that needs to change in order to succeed in the NFL.

Draft Insider Tony Pauline notes NFL teams had UCLA DL Datone Jones as a third-round pick prior to Senior Bowl week.

Many "think he won’t be selected early in the draft" and "the feeling is (Jones) has no real position at the next level and is a hard schematic fit." For someone that was the second most consistent player in the trenches, with Eric Fisher first, Jones' lack of an ideal position should be overlooked. He excelled at defensive end in a four man and could play inside when needed.

UCLA senior DL Datone Jones was credited with 1.5 tackles for loss, including a half sack, Thursday against Baylor.

We don't feel that Jones is getting enough credit and hopefully that changes throughout the draft process. His frame, strength, and hands allow Jones to play from a variety of spots along the defensive line. He wins at each, so the Bruin should be considered a versatile commodity by NFL teams.

UCLA senior DL Datone Jones has accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Jones is a very intriguing prospect because of his positional versatility. At UCLA, the senior lined up at end and won with hand power and leverage. Inside at defensive tackle, Jones utilized quicker feet than his opponent to penetrate the backfield. With a solid pre-draft process, we wouldn't be surprised if Jones earns a first-round selection.

UCLA senior DL Datone Jones registered two tackles for loss, including a sack, Friday against Stanford.

Jones displayed the same burst off the snap and strength to shed that has turned him into one of our favorite defensive prospects this season. He may not have an ideal, cookie cutter position, but his ability to win from multiple alignments means he has versatility.
