Michigan junior OG Joey Burzynski suffered a torn ACL in Saturday's win over Indiana and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.
Burzynski, a former walk-on, was making his first career start. Michigan head coach Brady Hoke inserted Burzynski into the lineup in place of Chris Bryant, who now may get his old job back. Mon, Oct 21, 2013 06:48:00 PM

Michigan sophomore Joey Burzynski is battling to claim the Wolverines' starting LG spot.

Burzynski, a former walk-on, made an impression this spring and worked his way into the starting lineup during the team's final scrimmage. In that time he has gained 11 pounds and now stands at 6'1/294. Still, his competition, senior Elliott Mealer, is 6'5/310 pounds and the favorite to crack the lineup. But Burzynski continues to surprise teammates and head coach Brady Hoke, who said "he's got good fundamentals, good techniques. He's got nice leverage. He's a pain and he's good, which is good." Neither has started a game in their career.
