Former Georgia TE Ty Flournoy-Smith, a JUCO recruit, has been added to Alabama's 2014 recruiting class.
Flournoy-Smith played in eight games with the Bulldogs before running in to off-field trouble. The tight end sold textbooks for cash and later reported them as stolen, leading to an arrest for calling in a false crime. It appears that Flournoy-Smith has two more seasons of eligibility remaining. He and O.J. Howard could form a great tandem at the position. Feb 4 - 11:23 AM

Georgia sophomore TE Ty Flournoy-Smith is transferring.

The rising sophomore avoided a redshirt season last year due to the lack of depth at the position, but it obviously wasn't enough. Head coach Mark Richt said Flournoy-Smith will likely go to a junior college and has talked to Georgia Military College. He also left the door open for a possible return after the JUCO stint. The tight end was arrested in February for the misdemeanor charge of filing a false report of a crime.

Georgia freshman TE Ty Flournoy-Smith will likely avoid a redshirt season in 2012 due to the Bulldogs' lack of depth at the position.

Junior Arthur Lynch and redshirt freshman Jay Rome are the only other tight ends under scholarship heading into 2012. "We’ve generally, ever since I’ve been here, played three at some point," tight ends coach John Lilly said. The position will have new faces this season regardless of who earns the majority of snaps, since Lynch is the most experienced player in the group and only has three career starts. Flournoy-Smith offers a different skillset than his counterparts, so he may see snaps earlier than many expected.
