Falcons selected Purdue CB Ricardo Allen with the No. 147 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Allen (5-foot-9 1/8, 187) got by on technique and playmaking ability in the Big 10, but was often pushed around by stronger receivers and is speed deficient with a 4.61 forty time. Still, Allen was a ballhawk (13 career interceptions, school record four pick-sixes) and has a feisty, aggressive playing style that could eventually earn him slot corner duties. He's simply too small and slow to line up outside. May 10 - 2:46 PM

Purdue junior CB Ricardo Allen accepted an invitation to play in the Shrine Game.

Allen was recently named All-Big Ten Second Team. The 5-foot-9 corner has a spindly frame and can be pushed around by bigger receivers. In addition, Allen doesn't possess high-end speed or top-notch strength. What he does possess is good technique and ball skills, quick feet, an aggressive style that borders on fearless and supreme confidence. Allen's name will be called on the draft's third day and he could carve out an NFL career as a nickel back.

Purdue junior Ricardo Allen has set out to become the school's shutdown CB this offseason.

Despite his diminutive size (5'9/176), Allen is a feisty press cornerback that loves to stay with receivers during their routes and the "personal challenge" of man coverage. However, sometimes that aggressive mindset gets him in trouble, specifically with Michael Floyd and Marvin McNutt last season. Allen enters his junior season with 118 solo tackles, 6.5 for loss, six interceptions and 14 passes defended after starting 25 games in his career.
