College Football 24/7 writer Chase Goodbread ranked Oklahoma State graduate RB Barry J. Sanders as the No. 11 transfer for 2016.
"OSU could use a boost at the position," Goodbread noted. The 5-foot-10, 198-pounder was a four-star recruit out of high school when he joined Stanford in 2013. Christian McCaffrey was part of the next recruiting class and the rest, as they say, is history. Now heading to his father's old stomping grounds, Sanders will look to challenge Chris Carson for starter carries. Carson rushed for 517 yards (3.9 YPC) and four touchdowns last season. For reference's sake, in his three years at Stanford, Sanders averaged a far more impressive 5.8 YPC mark, albeit on 115 carries spread across that space. May 21 - 7:18 PM

Stanford graduate RB Barry J. Sanders transferred to Oklahoma State.

Sanders is the son of Heisman-winning Cowboys legend Barry Sanders. "His message to me was to keep an open mind," Sanders said. "I think that he would have wanted me to look at more schools. He definitely didn’t want me to make a decision without considering other options." Set to graduate in the spring, Sanders is eligible to play immediately in 2016. The former four-star recruit out of Oklahoma didn't live up to expectations on the East Coast. Across three seasons, Sanders rushed for 672 yards and five touchdowns, caught 12 passes for 89 yards and averaged 9.5 yards on 10 punt returns. He figures to see the field more often for the Pokes. They don't, after all, have Christian McCaffrey.

Stanford redshirt junior RB Barry J. Sanders has been granted a release from the Cardinal and will transfer to another program.

Sanders was third on Stanford's depth chart this season behind Christian McCaffrey and Remound Wright. Sanders is on track to graduate this spring, and could be eligible for the 2016 season upon completion. As of now, he is prohibited from transferring to another Pac-12 program, but Oklahoma State could be the front runner for Barry Sanders' son. He rushed for 672 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons.

Stanford redshirt junior RB Barry J. Sanders rushed for 18 yards on six carries in the school's 42-10 win over Colorado.

It was a blowout victory, but six touches is a high number for Sanders. That seems to be a trend lately for Sanders, seeing 24 touches in the last three games he has played in. The Cardinal face Oregon next.

Stanford redshirt junior RB Barry J. Sanders rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries in the school's 56-35 win over UCLA.

Those 10 carries are the most Sanders has seen all season. Christian McCaffrey is a do everything back for the Cardinal, but Sanders is the No. 2 option in both the running and passing game.

Stanford redshirt junior RB Barry J. Sanders leads the FBS in yards per carry on first down runs with an average of 14.4 yards.

After struggling to find a role for the first few years at Stanford, Sanders has emerged as a nice complementary piece in 2015. He has three touchdowns in the last two weeks with a long play of 65 yards in each contest. Stanford plays UCLA next.

Stanford redshirt junior RB Barry J. Sanders rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on four carries in the school's 55-17 win over Arizona.

Sanders' total was produced on a single run of 65 yards, but that big play threat is needed in this offense. After really stumbling out of the gate, Stanford's offense has looked very solid for three weeks. Sanders absolutely has a role.

Stanford redshirt junior QB Barry Sanders rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries in the school's 42-24 win over Oregon State.

This was Sanders' best collegiate performance, and Stanford's running game finally looked like what we are used to. The running back more than doubled his rushing total for this season in this one contest.

Stanford redshirt sophomore RB Barry J. Sanders rushed for 68 yards in the school's 34-17 win over Washington State.

Sanders had rushes of 21 and 29 yards in the first quarter, but neither was overly impressive. He picked up yards blocked for him but did not showcase the jump cut that made his father famous, something he has flashed in the past. Still, a yards per carry rate of 9.7 is very good.

Stanford redshirt sophomore RB Barry J. Sanders rushed for 11 yards on three carries in the school's 20-13 win over Washington.

The Cardinal only handed the ball off 22 times to their running backs, which is very surprising. In fact, the box score shows quarterback Kevin Hogan had the same number of carries as top rusher Remound Wright.

Stanford redshirt sophomore RB Barry J. Sanders rusher for 92 yards on nine carries in the school's 35-0 win over Army.

It is a career high in carries and yards for the young Sanders. A large portion of his yards occurred on a single snap, which saw Sanders take a short toss 44 yards after great blocking up front. He lacked long speed to finish the run, however. This could be a start to a larger role for Barry's son.
