Cowboys selected South Carolina LB DeVonte Holloman with the No. 185 overall pick.
Holloman (6-foot-1 3/8, 243) played strong safety before moving to the "Spur" hybrid linebacker position as a senior. He registered seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and three interceptions in 2012, before running a 4.76 forty with a 1.62 ten-yard split in Indianapolis. Holloman's experience in coverage should serve him well as he projects to a reserve outside linebacker spot if he makes the Cowboys. Apr 27 - 4:40 PM

South Carolina senior LB DeVonte Holloman measured 6-foot-1 4/8 and 246 pounds during East-West Shrine weigh ins.

Holloman, a former strong safety who added weight to take on South Carolina's "Spur" role, looks good playing in his new frame. We project him as a weakside linebacker in the NFL, since Holloman certainly has the speed to chase and tackle.

South Carolina senior LB DeVonte Holloman has been moved to the starting SS spot.

This change coincides with senior D.J. Swearinger's move to cornerbacks and injuries to corners Akeem Auguste and Jimmy Legree. Holloman technically plays the "spur" position, which is a hybrid safety and linebacker, but his full time move to safety screams to us that the Gamecocks aren't afraid of getting beat over the top in the passing game.
