Saints selected Florida OLB Ronald Powell with the No. 169 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Powell (6-foot-3, 237) arrived at UF as the nation's No. 1 overall recruit in 2010 -- ahead of the likes of Keenan Allen and Sharrif Floyd -- but endured a disappointing college career. He missed all of 2012 after twice tearing his left ACL, before managing four sacks and seven tackles for loss as a redshirt junior in 2013. Powell declared for the pros and ran 4.65 at the Combine with a 9-foot-6 broad jump. If Powell can humble himself and stay healthy, he still has enough potential to become an impact NFL defender, likely as a role-playing "sub-rusher." May 10 - 3:37 PM

The Eagles have "high interest" in Florida edge player Ronald Powell, according to Philly.com's Jimmy Kempski.

Powell was previously listed as a top national recruit but dealt with a multitude of injuries during his college career. The edge rusher has experience standing up or in a three point stance and would fill a nickel rushing role for the Eagles in sub-package sets. He could be had on the third day.

NFL Media draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki believes that Florida junior DE/OLB Ronald Powell has "had his tires pumped since high school."

"Entitlement was an issue as a young player and his personality could rub some people the wrong way," Nawrocki wrote. "Has developmental value as a stand-up rush linebacker, but must dedicate himself to the craft and realize he's no longer the big man on campus." Powell was a top recruit out of high school and flashed plenty of ability with the Gators. When healthy, he's a hybrid pass rusher who can disrupt the timing of offenses. The NFL is worried about that qualifier. Expect Powell to display good movement skills and strength at the combine.

Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl was Florida junior DE/OLB Ronald Powell after spotlighting the pass rusher.

"Real interested to see where Florida OLB Powell ends up going," Weidl tweeted. There are "some durability (questions) but he's a versatile explosive joker that looks the part." Powell was a top recruit out of high school and flashed plenty of ability, but he needs to stay on the field.

Florida junior DE/OLB Ronald Powell will enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

When healthy, Powell has made an impact as a hybrid pass rusher, but his long injury history could impact his evaluation. The NFL Combine medicals will be important, but expect Powell to display good movement skills and strength. He had four sacks on the season.

Five NFL teams will be represented for Saturday's game against Vanderbilt and Florida.

Evaluators from the Ravens, Texans, Eagles, Chargers, and Giants will be on hand. As we always say, scouts go to these games for enjoyment just as much as they go for work. The most important evaluation will take place when reviewing the tape afterwards.

Florida junior DE/OLB Ronald Powell is expected to return to the field against Georgia.

Powell will miss the October 19 game against Missouri due to a sprained ankle but he returned to practice on Tuesday. The junior has a fairly long injury history, but he has been a very impactful and productive player when healthy.

Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl believe Florida junior pass rusher Ronald Powell could be a game changer.

Weidl adds the caveat of Powell needing to stay healthy, which has been an issue in the past. The pass rusher "lines up everywhere and (is) very twitched up," according to Weidl. Powell has some company up front, with Dominique Easley and Dante Fowler also poised for big seasons.

Florida junior DE/OLB Ronald Powell has been cleared for camp.

Powell has dealt with knee injuries for some time. Last October Powell underwent more surgery for his hurt knee after deciding to redshirt the 2012 season. He reportedly had swelling in his knee while recovering from an ACL injury that was suffered in 2011. We expect him to lose snaps to Dante Fowler.

Florida head coach Will Muschamp announced prior to Saturday's game against LSU that junior DE Ronald Powell recently underwent more surgery for his injured knee.

Powell already decided to redshirt this season, but multiple surgeries to fix an injury is never a good sign and extends the healing process. He reportedly had swelling in his knee while recovering from an ACL injury that was suffered last season. The junior has 13 career starts, including nine tackles for loss and six sacks in limited time in 2011.
