According to NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline, Notre Dame C Braxston Cave was among the players who saw their draft stock "plummet" at the Senior Bowl.
While Pauline cites BYU DE Ziggy Ansah, San Diego State CB Leon McFadden, Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton, and Oklahoma LT Lane Johnson as Senior Bowl risers, he pegged Cave and Stanford LB Chase Thomas as fallers in Mobile. Cave was a rock-solid college center, but he doesn't project as a high-end NFL starter. Ex-NFL scout Russ Lande has noted that Cave does "not play up to his size," which was confirmed at 6-foot-3, 304 in Mobile. Thu, Jan 24, 2013 12:06:00 PM

Notre Dame senior C Braxston Cave is hoping to rebound from his questionable performance against Purdue and senior DT Kawann Short.

Cave gave up at least one sack on his own against Short but more importantly there appeared to be a lack of communication between the interior offensive linemen. As a unit, the Irish offensive line allowed four sacks and only accounted for 53 rushing yards but are looking for redemption against Michigan State. "It’s a huge opportunity," Cave said. "We just have to go out there and play our game." Other than junior defensive end William Gholston, the Spartans have a solid veteran in senior defensive tackle Anthony Rashad White.
