Redskins selected Florida State RB Chris Thompson with the No. 154 overall pick
Thompson — who's a pint-sized 5-7, 192 — rushed 276 times for 1,736 yards (6.29 YPC) and 14 touchdowns as a four-year committee back at FSU, also catching 45 career passes. Thompson broke his back in an October 2011 game, and tore his left ACL last October 20. A scatback type with straight-line speed, Thompson is a candidate to "redshirt" his first NFL season. Florida State senior RB Chris Thompson will miss the remainder of the 2012 season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

This is incredibly sad news for Thompson, who broke out this year against Wake Forest, the same team he broke his back against last season. The senior is very talented, specifically with his straight-line speed, but teams have been wary of often injured running backs. Hopefully he is healthy enough to workout during the pre-draft process.

FSU head coach Jimbo FIsher announced that senior Chris Thompson will continue to be the Seminoles starting RB.

"Chris will be our starter, but we're going to rotate," Fisher said. "Chris is just playing so doggone well." Sophomore James Wilder started the first three games, but after Thompson broke out for 197 yards in one half against Wake Forest, he has been the starter. Fellow sophomore Devonta Freeman will also work in for some carries.

Florida State senior RB Chris Thompson broke out during the first half of the Seminoles' game against Wake Forest, rushing for 197 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

It must have been an emotional game for Thompson, who broke his back versus the Demon Deacons last season. The senior's straight-line speed was evident and once he hit the edge, it was over. Thompson also registered two catches for 23 yards.
