Browns selected Notre Dame Jamoris Slaughter with the No. 175 overall pick.
Slaughter (6-foot, 195) was denied a sixth year of NCAA eligibility after missing nearly all of 2012 with torn Achilles' tendon. A safety/linebacker hybrid for the Irish, Slaughter made four career tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He did 19 bench-press reps before the draft and projects as an NFL special teamer. Eventually, he'll try to find a niche as a hard-hitting free safety. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 04:04:00 PM

Notre Dame senior S Jamoris Sluaghter was denied his petition for a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA.

"I understood that a sixth year was far from a guarantee," Slaughter said. We expect the safety to turn his sights on the NFL, where he has a chance to make a roster despite missing a large portion of the 2012 season. While on the field, he allowed the Irish defense to take more chances with versatile looks.

Notre Dame S/LB Jamoris Slaughter was denied a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA Tuesday after rupturing his Achilles' in September.

Slaughter tore the Achilles' in Week 3 of the regular season, and redshirted in 2008. Notre Dame tried convincing the NCAA that the redshirt year was medical-related and therefore could be a "medical redshirt," not counting against Slaughter's eligibility. The NCAA said no dice. Slaughter was a playmaking movable chess piece on Bob Diaco's defense. Very likely to go undrafted in April, Slaughter does hope to catch on in an NFL training camp this summer.

Notre Dame senior S Jamoris Slaughter has applied for a sixth season of eligibility after missing the season with an achilles injury.

The NCAA does not grant sixth seasons very often, but Slaughter was injured very early in the season on the first play of the second half against Michigan State. he had started 19 of 39 games he played in, so with Zeke Motta departing to the NFL, Slaughter would be a nice veteran piece for the Irish to keep around.

Notre Dame senior S Jamoris Slaughter will miss the remainder of the 2012 season with an Achilles injury.

He was injured on the first play of the second half against Michigan State. Slaughter had starter 19 of 39 games played, including the first three of the 2012 season. The Irish have a solid safety in senior Zeke Motta, but sophomore Matthias Farley will likely replaced the injured Slaughter.
