USC DE/OLB Morgan Breslin could collect between $750,000 to $1 million on a loss of value insurance policy, reports Yahoo! Sports.
Breslin went undrafted, signing with the 49ers upon completion of the weekend event. Once considered a future top-60 possibility, Breslin took out a loss of value policy in the summer of 2013 in case an injury caused his draft stock to fall. Breslin was limited to five games last year due to a sports hernia. He underwent hip surgery and wasn't invited to the combine. USC teammate Marqise Lee could collect more than $4 million if he can prove to his own insurance company that a drop into Round 2 was caused by injury. May 12 - 8:39 PM

49ers signed USC DE/OLB Morgan Breslin.

Breslin (6-foot-1 1/8, 250) played end as a junior before converting to outside linebacker in USC's 3-4 as a senior, managing 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks while missing nine games due to hip problems. He had the hip repaired surgically last November and clocked wide-ranging forty times of 4.75 and 4.95 at the Trojans' Pro Day. Breslin does have plus athleticism (35.5-inch vertical) and was a high-impact pass rusher as a junior, registering 13 sacks. If Breslin can kick the injury bug, he could be a decent NFL edge presence.

USC edge rusher Morgan Breslin ran forties of 4.75 and 4.95 seconds at USC's Pro Day.

He also posted a 35.5 inch vertical jump and hoisted up 26 reps on the bench. Breslin was one of the most shocking snubs from the NFL Scouting Combine. In 2012 he looked to be one of the most promising edge rushers in the nation when he had 13 sacks after transferring from the JUCO level, but that momentum was halted as a senior when he missed nine games and appeared far less athletic. Former USC interim coach Ed Orgeron said Breslin was one of his favorite players to ever coach.

During the interview with Fox Sports, edge rusher Morgan Breslin blames a hernia injury for his dip in the 2013 season.

Breslin was "pretty pissed" about not receiving an invite to the NFL Combine. Look for Breslin to be ready to showcase his talents during his Pro Day. In 2012 he looked to be one of the most promising edge rushers in the nation when he had 13 sacks after transferring from the JUCO level, but that momentum was halted as a senior when he missed 9 games and looked far less athletic and agile on the field.

Wyoming QB Brett Smith and USC edge rusher Morgan Breslin lead CBS Sports draft analyst Dane Brugler's Combine snub list.

"Breslin underwent hip surgery in November and might be trying to receive a medical hardship waiver to play in 2014 for the Trojans," Brugler keenly points out. Smith's absence is shocking, as he declared early and flashed mobility and play making ability while in school. We are also disappointed to not see South Carolina DE Chaz Sutton, Northern Arizona RB Zach Bauman and San Jose State WR Chandler Jones.

USC senior OLB Morgan Breslin didn't receive an invite to the NFL Combine.

Every year there are random players that slip through the cracks, and Breslin fits that category this year. Although Breslin suffered through an injury-plagued 2013 campaign, he has always produced when healthy. He's a coach's dream as well. "In my 27 years of coaching, Morgan is absolutely one of my favorite players I've ever coached," former USC interim coach Ed Orgeron said this past season. "An outstanding young man, great team guy, just loves football."

USC senior OLB Morgan Breslin needs hip surgery and will be out for the remainder of the regular season.

Head coach Ed Orgeron left the door open for Breslin's return for the school's bowl game, but didn't sound confident that it would happen. Breslin is missing his third straight game against Cal on Saturday. He has transitioned well into a stand up edge rushing role this season.

USC senior OLB Morgan Breslin (hip) will miss his third straight game and fifth overall this season due to injury on Saturday against Cal.

Breslin collected 3.5 sacks in USC's 30-9 victory over the Bears a season ago. "In my 27 years of coaching, Morgan is absolutely one of my favorite players I've ever coached," interim coach Ed Orgeron said. "An outstanding young man, great team guy, just loves football." Orgeron, who also coaches the defensive line, isn't sure when Breslin will return.

USC senior OLB Morgan Breslin is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Notre Dame with a hip injury.

Breslin missed last Thursday's contest against Arizona, but he has progressed well in a stand-up edge rushing role this season. He and Devon Kennard form a nice duo on the outside. Production-wise, Breslin has registered 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in 2013.

USC senior OLB Morgan Breslin is unlikely to play against Arizona with a hip injury.

The severity of the injury has not been released. Breslin, along with Devon Kennard, have transitioned well form hand-in-the-dirt end to stand up rushers this season. The senior has registered 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in 2013 despite missing a good portion of two games. Freshman Jabari Ruffin will start in his place.

USC senior Morgan Breslin is listed as a starting OLB in the Trojans' new hybrid defense.

Breslin played defensive end under Monte Kiffin last season and was the team's most productive edge rusher. He and Devon Kennard will make the switch to a stand up role in some situations. Although the base defense is listed as a 3-4, expect to see multiple 5-2 fronts as well.

USC junior DE Morgan Breslin registered two sacks against UCLA on Saturday.

Breslin started the season red hot, but has picked up his play and production in recent weeks and is now responsible for four sacks in the last three games. The JUCO transfer is the best draft-eligible talent on the Trojans defense, but we are unsure if he will declare for April's draft.

USC junior DE Morgan Breslin registered 3.5 sacks during the team's game against Cal on Saturday.

Breslin, a JUCO transfer, has easily been the Trojans best defensive lineman all season and now has the production to back it up. The junior's relentless motor and technique were on display, consistently pushing the edge to chase down mobile Cal senior quarterback Zach Maynard. Breslin was not on many radars prior to the season, but he will be soon and is draft-eligible.
