CBS Sports' Dane Brugler does not believe Florida State WR Rodney Smith is playing up to his size through two days of practice at the East-West Shrine Game.
Brugler adds that "it is obvious why many scouts think so highly of" Smith, due to his combination of size and athleticism. However, Brugler wishes Smith would win in contested situations more frequently and go beyond just catching vertical passes he tracked downfield. Tue, Jan 15, 2013 12:54:00 PM

NFL Network's Chad Reuter noted that Florida State senior WR Rodney Smith is a potential Michael Floyd-like vertical threat.

Reuter says Smith "is as smooth a 6'6 receiver I remember seeing." Although Floyd has not lit the world on fire in the early part of his professional career, that is not a bad comparison in terms of draft position, since Floyd was a mid first-rounder. Smith currently has eight receptions for 149 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
