An AFC area scout said Texas LB Jordan Hicks will "probably be a coach after he's done with football."
"He loves it that much. His problem is that it's hard to project the player fitting into his traits because he struggles to make plays outside of the scheme," the scout said. The 6-foot-2, 244-pound Longhorns prospect recorded 299 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in his five-year career. "Smart and loves the game of football. Scouts say the staff at Texas raves about the way Hicks lifts, prepares for games and takes care of his body. Has football character in spades," NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote. Texas senior LB Jordan Hicks has "shown some physicality in Mobile after generally relying on his athleticism at Texas," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

"He has the speed to meet backs on the perimeter and has enough agility and recognition for coverage responsibilities. Hicks has also shown some physicality in Mobile after generally relying on his athleticism at Texas," Rang wrote. The Longhorns prospect recorded 299 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in his five-year career. Hicks did have a pair of injury-plagued seasons (2012-13) but recorded 147 tackles in 2014, and was named a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award, for his efforts.

Texas senior LB Jordan Hicks accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl.

Hicks leads the school in tackles (136), is second in tackles for loss (12) and fourth in interceptions (2). Coming off a torn ACL, Hicks' resurgent campaign includes being named a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award, given to the top defensive player in nation. The 6-foot-2, 244-pound linebacker hadn't made it through a full season since 2011. To have done so -- and done so in style -- is a boon for his draft stock.

Texas senior LB Jordan Hicks, coming off a torn ACL, "should thrive in new coach Charlie Strong's aggressive defensive scheme," postulates NFL.com.

"Hicks has the talent to vie for Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors," the site proclaims, adding skeptically: "But using 'assume' and 'health' in the same sentence with Hicks is dangerous. The 6-foot-2, 244-pound linebacker shredded his knee early last season, and he hasn't made it through a full season since 2011. A healthy campaign in Strong's attacking scheme will draw the NFL's attention, but we also wonder if he's up to it.

Texas LB Jordan Hicks was awarded an extra season of eligibility due to an injury waiver.

Hicks applied for a medical redshirt following a shortened 2012 season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. The Longhorn linebacker should prove to be one of Texas' top talents at the second level, as long as he can stay healthy.

Texas starting junior LB Jordan Hicks will miss Saturday's game against Baylor.

Hicks has an injured hip, and this will be his third straight game missed. The Longhorns linebackers have been dreadful the past few weeks and have been a main reason the defense has struggled despite possessing talent.

Texas starting junior LB Jordan Hicks and backup sophomore RB Malcolm Brown are both doubtful to play in Saturday's game against Oklahoma.

Brown suffered a sprained ankle a couple of weeks ago and missed his first game of the season last week. Hicks also missed last weekend's game after injuring his hip against Ole Miss, and his absence was certainly felt against the Mountaineers.
