Wake Forest senior CB Merrill Noel had four tackles and two passes broken up in Saturday's Medal of Honor Bowl.
Noel started from Day 1 on campus and finished his career with eight interceptions, including a team-leading three in 2014. "Noel has the speed to stay in receiver's hip pocket while showing the awareness and feel in coverage to keep an eye on the action around him," wrote CBS Sports' Rob Rang. "Noel is undersized and will get himself in trouble when he takes too many chances, but his natural fluidity and confident attitude is ideal for the position and he is definitely a prospect to remember for the future." CBS grades Noel as a Rd. 7 or UDFA prospect. Jan 11 - 3:38 PM

Wake Forest senior CB Merrill Noel "possesses quickness and natural ability to be a contributor from the slot at the next level," according to CBS Sports' Derek Stephens.

"Possesses quickness and natural ability to be a contributor from the slot at the next level, and a strong senior season could put him in the draft conversation," Stephens wrote. Noel started 11 games at CB before missing the final game of the year due to injury. Last season Noel finished seventh on the team with 53 tackles, including 38 solo stops and 2.5 for loss. As a freshman, the Wake Forest prospect was a consensus Freshman All-American, starting in 13 games with 19 passes defensed and two interceptions. If Noel can play consistent and stay healthy in his final year, it could do wonders for his draft stock.

Wake Forest has suspended sophomore CB Merrill Noel, junior S Daniel Mack, junior LB Mike Olson, junior G Frank Souza, freshman RB DeAndre Martin, and freshman WR Airyn Willis for Saturday's game against Maryland.

Per a school release, the six suspensions were due to a violation of team rules and the players will be eligible to be reinstated prior to the October 20 game against Virginia. Of the draft-eligible player, Noel is the best prospect, but he is unlikely to enter the draft this season since he is only a redshirt sophomore.
