49ers selected Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton with the No. 128 overall pick.
Patton (6-foot, 204) blew up for 1,392 yards and 13 touchdowns on 104 receptions (13.4 YPR) as a senior. Not an outstanding athlete, Patton managed a 4.53 forty and 33-inch vertical at the Combine. With sure hands, toughness, and smooth routes, Patton drew pre-draft comparisons to Reggie Wayne but openly likens himself to Chad Johnson. Rotoworld draft columnist Dumonjic Alen's No. 1-rated receiver in the entire draft, Patton will open his career competing for playing time with A.J. Jenkins behind Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. Draft insider Tony Pauline notes it is assumed Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton will be a mid-second round pick.

Patton has visited the Rams and Titans among others. "Besides being a terrific receiver Patton is spoken about as a hard working, high character prospect by NFL scouts," Pauline writes. He works best as an outside target on vertical bucket throws or when breaking back routes thanks to great body control.

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton visited the Rams on Friday.

The Rams drafted Brian Quick with the first pick of the second-round last season, and utilized Chris Givens' vertical speed effectively, but they could absolutely use another receiver to help Sam Bradford. Patton is a super reliable target who excels on bucket throws and working back towards the quarterback. We expect the Rams to spend a first-round pick at the position.

Packers beat writer Ty Dunne tweeted that the Seahawks have been "very interested" in Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton, dating back to the 2011 season.

Patton is one of our favorites, winning with smoothness, body control, and fluidity. He isn't going to surprise athletically, but Patton gets the job done on vertical routes or comebacks by setting up his opposition. The Seahawks have already added Percy Harvin this offseason, and Patton is expected to be a second-round pick.

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton was credited with a drop percentage of 0.9 on 158 targets.

Among wide receivers, Patton has the highest number of targets with the lowest percentage. We love the pass catcher's game, specifically his fluidity and body control to create slivers of separation on vertical or breaking routes. He's a likely second-round pick.

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton met with three teams that attended the school's pro day.

Patton had dinner with the 49ers last night, met with the Broncos Tuesday morning and "went out" with Carolina, per Tony Pauline. The latter appears very interested in receivers this year, including DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and now Patton.

The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt reports the Tennessee Titans worked out Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton.

The Titans have shopped around wide receiver Nate Washington, which indicates they could be looking to replace him with another perimeter receiver. Kenny Britt is talented but unreliable, while last year's first round selection Kendall Wright is likely to be primarily an outside receiver. Patton is likely in the same boat as a pro, which makes this an interesting workout.

National Football Post's Russ Lande writes Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton could go in the first round with a strong showing at the school's pro day.

"While he has not been receiving a ton of publicity since, NFL teams are still high on him and if he shines at his Pro Day he could cement a spot in round one," Lande writes. "With good size at 6’0, top end playing speed and the hands to make tough catches seem routine, Patton looks like the complete package on film. He needs to display the explosiveness and hands at his Pro Day that he showed on film as he did not do so at the Combine, if he wants to assure himself of being a first round draft pick."

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton is "just a guy," according to one unnamed NFL scout.

"I’m not a big fan," the scout noted. "The best he’s going to be is a No. 3 for you, if that." Patton is anything but flashy, winning with body control and fluidity, but we feel he can be a dependable second receiver in the NFL.

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton has said he wants to meet with the Tennessee Titans.

Patton met with at least six teams at the Scouting Combine, none of which were the Tennessee Titans. Some teams don't meet with players they intend to select as a way of not tipping their hand. If that's the case, this could be a good sign for the highly-rated senior receiver.

Louisiana Tech's Quinton Patton was given the Senior Bowl practice award among the WR position.

Patton is a very smooth and fluid receiver that doesn't win with explosiveness or flashy plays. His game is very reminiscent to Reggie Wayne's and it helps that Patton frequently faced press coverage.

Former NFL Scout Russ Lande lists Louisiana Tech's Quinton Patton as his top senior WR.

Patton ranks as the 18th overall player/ Cal junior Keenan Allen is the top overall receiver on Lande's board, coming in number six. Tavon Austin comes in just behind Patton at number 20. We are also big fans of Patton and although his game lacks flash in terms of quickness and burst, Patton is extremely fluid in his route running and body control.

Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton tweeted a picture of his Senior Bowl invitation Monday and is expected to attend the event.

Patton is a section favorite due to his fluidity in routes and body control while adjusting to make the catch. Player comparisons are tricky, but a lot of his game reminds us of Reggie Wayne, and Patton may end up being the top outside senior receiver drafted in April. Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks previously stated that Patton was his most difficult matchup in college.

SI's Tony Pauline says that Louisiana Tech senior Quinton Patton has raised his game to be potentially picked in the third-round and could be a third WR in the NFL.

Pauline explains that Patton received late-round grades prior to the season but has seen his "draft stock take off." We really like Patton's game and consider this a modest expectation. The senior receiver reminds us a lot of Reggie Wayne in terms of body control and fluidity downfield. We agree that a second-day selection is likely.

Louisiana Tech senior WR Quinton Patton hauled in 10 catches for 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns Saturday against San Jose State.

Patton is the real deal and needs to start receiving more national attention. Besides versatile threat Tavon Austin, Patton may be the best senior receiver in this class. His route running and fluidity reminds us of Reggie Wayne. A second day selection is very likely.
