South Carolinas DT Kelcy Quarles and CB Victor Hampton have both been cleared of all wrongdoing by police in a NYC nightclub fight, reports TMZ.
The pair had been under suspicion by the New York City Police Department for a possible role in April 11's brawl at the Greenhouse nightclub. Apparently, Quarles and Hampton were part of a group who objected to marijuana being smoked. Quarles is a Day 2 prospect. Jadeveon Clowney wasn't the most productive USC DL last season. South Carolina DT Kelcy Quarles is excited to move out of the shadow of college teammate Jadeveon Clowney.

"I do get tired of hearing it, but it is what it is," Quarles said. "I felt like I was in the weight room working hard at 6 o'clock in the morning. I was the one after two-a-days running through hoops so I could get to the quarterback. I'm glad he was out there, and the attention he had, but at the end of the day I still had to beat my man to get there." Quarles, you might be surprised to learn, led the Gamecocks in sacks (9.5) and tackles for loss (13.5) in 2013.

South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles models his game after Reggie White and Warren Sapp.

Sapp and White were athletic freaks that regularly made movements that defied physics, but if you're going to pick a pair of players to mimic, they're a decent start. "I used to watch Reggie White when he was with the Packers and the passion he played with," Quarles said. "I try to model my game like his. They would have a relentless hard worker that is open to learn and make the team and the organization the best in the National Football League. I would also like to play beside big B.J. Raji." Of Sapp, Quarles said: "He is a big relentless pass rusher that will do anything to anybody. I always watched him on YouTube when he played at Miami, and he was a monster. I feel that I bring the same passion and energy that he brings to the game."

ESPN's Mel Kiper believes South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles is a second-round pick, at worst.

"Quarles has great hands to free himself inside, an ability to penetrate or push the pocket with leverage, and he locates really well against the run," Kiper writes. In fact, Kiper says Quarles is the one having the "huge season" between he and Jadeveon Clowney. We think the defensive tackle owes the edge rusher a few game checks if he is taken with a pick in the top 64.

South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles softened his stance regarding May's NFL draft.

"I don't know yet," said Quarles. "We've been talking about it. Me and Coach (Lorenzo) Ward and Coach (Steve) Spurrier have been talking about it. I haven't really made my mind up yet. They're leaving it up to me." Quarles' father said the defensive tackle would enter the draft earlier this month.

South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles (concussion) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Coastal Carolina.

Quarles' father recently said his son would enter the upcoming NFL draft. Quarles has played at a very high level this season, but the undersized tackle might be making a mistake if he bolts school early. While he's mobile and athletic -- capable of lining up as a 3-technique tackle or two-gap lineman -- Quarles is no lock to go in the first three rounds.

South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles will enter the 2014 NFL Draft, according to his father.

"Quarles' departure is a mutual decision between the player and coaching staff, Buddy Quarles said," beat writer Josh Kendall writes. "Head coach Steve Spurrier had an idea that Quarles was considering turning pro and told the Hodges, S.C., native to walk with the team’s seniors during pregame ceremonies on Senior Day before the Nov. 30 game against Clemson." Quarles has drawn a lot of buzz lately, specifically from draft insider Tony Pauline, but we don't quite see the top-75 projection just yet.

Draft insider Tony Pauline said South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles is receiving rave reviews "as a real leader in the Gamecock locker room."

Pauline has previously noted that Quarles will likely leave to the NFL after the season. Quarles is starting to play at a fairly high level over the last few weeks, disrupting opponents' gameplans on the interior much more frequently.

Draft insider Tony Pauline believes South Carolina junior DT Kelcy Quarles is a top-75 selection.

"The junior is in the midst of a sensational season, a campaign few have noticed," Pauline writes. "Slightly undersized, he’s a mobile athlete with the ability to line-up as a 3-technique tackle or two-gap lineman in the NFL." Quarles has posted production, and we think he is benefiting from Clowney's upfield disruption on the edge.

South Carolina sophomore DT Kelcy Quarles will miss Saturday's game against Tennessee with a shoulder injury.

Quarles was technically suspended for last weekend's game, but many believe he would have missed the contest regardless with this shoulder injury. The Gamecocks defensive line has plenty of talent but the Vols present the best opposing offensive line they will face all year.

South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier has suspended starting sophomore DT Kelcy Quarles for this weekend's game against Florida.

Spurrier had previously stated Quarles would miss some game action for punching an LSU player during last weekend's game, but he did not disclose the length until today. According to beat writer Darryl Slater, Quarles would have likely missed this weekend's game with a sprained shoulder anyways. Sophomore J.T. Surratt will likely start in his place.

Updating a previous item, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier announced Wednesday that sophomore DT Kelcy Quarles will be punished for punching an LSU player during Saturday's game.

Spurrier added that the punishment will "probably" involve missing game time. How much, however, was not disclosed. Don't expect Quarles to miss an entire game or possibly not even an entire quarter.

The SEC announced that a possible punishment for South Carolina sophomore DL Kelcy Quarles would have to be made by the school.

Quarles was caught by cameras punching a LSU player during Saturday's game, but officials did not call a penalty. Head coach Steve Spurrier meets with the media on Wednesday, but we do not expect a punishment. Quarles is second on the team in tackles for loss with six.
