Bears selected Florida LB Jon Bostic with the No. 50 overall pick.
It's the highest pick the Bears have used on a linebacker since they took Brian Urlacher ninth overall in 2000. And now that Urlacher is gone, Bostic will serve as the early-down replacement. Bostic (6-1, 245) started 32 games at MIKE linebacker for the Gators, amassing 19 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He ran 4.61 at the Combine with a 1.58 ten-yard split and 22 bench reps. Bostic is a physical thumper with short-area burst and NFL starter potential. Fri, Apr 26, 2013 07:50:00 PM

Florida ILB Jon Bostic has visits lined up with the Browns, Bears, and Colts.

Bostic missed the Shrine and Senior Bowl all star games but showed more athleticism than expected during his Combine workout. Mostly known as a run stuffer between the tackles, Bostic might show more range as he grows at the position and could be a third-round pick.

Yahoo!'s Jason Cole tweeted that a couple of people at Florida's Pro Day expect LB Jon Bostic to be selected before Manti Te'o.

Obviously scouts can have wide ranging opinions on prospects, but this comment is definitely noteworthy. Bostic ran an excellent forty of 4.61 seconds at the NFL Combine, although might not play at that speed. In fact, Bostic's best skills in college were his ability to attack blockers with the correct shoulder and with force.
