Raiders signed Duke WR Conner Vernon.
Vernon was quarterback Sean Renfree's favorite receiver at Duke, catching 85 balls for 1,074 yards (12.6 YPR) and eight touchdowns as a senior. He ran a 4.68 forty at the Combine with a 32.5-inch vertical, exhibiting little athleticism. Vernon runs pretty routes and has clay hands, so perhaps he'll get a look as a slot receiver. Duke's Conner Vernon is another WR that intrigues NFL Films' Greg Cosell.

Vernon is a "very good route runner with understanding of how to use vertical stem to break down cushion and separate," Cosell tweeted. "My concern with Vernon was he was bit of one speed receiver (without) much burst. But very good hands (and) great feel for subtleties of route running." We expect Vernon to be a fifth- or sixth-round player.

Duke WR Conner Vernon says he's met with all 32 teams between the Senior Bowl and the combine.

When asked about how many teams he spoke to at the combine, Vernon said he was unsure. "I’m not sure, but between the Senior Bowl and the combine, I talked to all 32," Vernon said. "A lot of people just want information on you, and they don’t necessarily contact you and instead they go through your agent. I know he’s talked to a lot of guys. Right now, there’s not much else I can control. At this point, most of it is out of my hands."

Duke senior WR Conner Vernon caught 10 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown Thursday against Cincinnati.

Vernon was his usual, consistent self. Other than a 23 yard reception, most of his catches were to eat up shorter chunks of yardage. Vernon likely projects as a slot receiver, creating separation with body control and the senior's hands are very reliable.

Duke and Cincinnati will play in the Belk Bowl on December 27.

With Bearcats outside linebacker Walter Stewart ending his football career due to injury, this game lacks NFL prospects. Blue Devil senior receiver Conner Vernon will earn a pre-draft all star game invite and is one of the top receivers in the country. Cincinnati running back George Winn has taken a big step forward in the lead back role and senior linebacker transfer Greg Blair is an intriguing option.

Duke senior WR Conner Vernon has not practiced this week after reportedly injuring his knee on the "cheap shot" from UNC freshman Shakeel Rashad.

Rashad will serve a one game suspension on Saturday for the hit. It is early in the week and Vernon continued to play in the game against the Tar Heels after the injury, so we would be shocked if the Blue Devils top offensive threat does not suit up against Florida State this weekend.

Duke senior WR Conner Vernon needs 94 receiving yards to break the all-time ACC career record, currently held by Peter Warrick.

After Saturday's 124 receiving yard performance against UNC, Vernon now has 3,424 yards for his career. Some may say the senior is deceptively quick, but we have been impressed by his ability to get open from multiple alignments. He will likely be a third day pick in April.
