Draft insider Tony Pauline designated Cincinnati senior LB Greg Blair with a second-round preseason tag.
Blair is a "dynamite three down defender skilled in all areas of the linebacker position," Pauline writes. "Actual size/speed numbers will determine if he’s top 32 or 40-75 talent." Even mentioning that the first-round is a possibility is impressive, since Blair's emergence didn't take place until last season. He likely projects inside or as a strong side backer behind a four man front. Wed, Aug 7, 2013 01:55:00 PM

Draft insider Tony Pauline is hearing that Cincinnati senior LB Greg Blair is drawing late round grades from NFL scouts.

Pauline vehemently disagrees with this evaluation and considers Blair a possible top 75 or 90 selection. There has been some buzz that Blair will run a slower forty, perhaps in the 4.9s, but he plays much faster on the field. Blair made his presence felt during his first season with the Bearcats and should only build on that success.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler considers senior LB Greg Blair Cincinnati's top prospect heading into the 2013 season.

"While he exhibits strong instincts and a physical, down-hill approach against the run, he also displays impressive awareness and anticipation in space when dropping into coverage," Brugler writes. "He's not incredibly fluid in reverse and lacks an elite first step when asked to break down and redirect, but he diagnoses early and will take good angles to compensate." Blair was one of the Bearcats top tacklers last season and was granted another year of eligibility after spending time at the JUCO level.

Cincinnati senior LB Greg Blair accounted for 15 tackles, including a half tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery against Duke.

Blair really emerged this season, especially after Walter Stewart's playing career ended midway through the year. He likely projects as a thickly built inside linebacker in the NFL, but we feel Blair is a safe bet to be drafted despite only one year of real production.

Cincinnati senior LB Greg Blair has gone from an undrafted free agent to late round contender with his improved play this season, according to SI's Tony Pauline.

Blair, a transfer from Lackawanna Community College, played in only one game last season, but has taken his game to "another level" this year. According to Pauline, Blair is "displaying himself as a tough, run defender with the ability to handle the inside/middle linebacker spot in a variety of defensive schemes." He will certainly need to step up for a defense that lost their best player in Walter Stewart.
