Colts signed Tennessee OLB Curt Maggitt.
Maggitt (6'3/247) made 29 starts at Tennessee before missing all but two games as a senior with a chipped bone in his hip. He looked to be coming on in his junior campaign, breaking out for 15 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. Maggitt still wasn't recovered in time to work out before the draft. Amid obvious injury flags -- he also tore his ACL in college -- Maggitt is a passionate and highly competitive rush end-'backer with edge burst to disrupt enemy quarterbacks. Maggitt has upside if he can get and stay healthy. May 3 - 11:59 PM

Former Tennessee LB Curt Maggitt has declined to comment on the Title IX lawsuit being filed against the university.

"Because my name was brought up in a lawsuit, I reached out to my lawyer and he’s going to handle everything," Maggitt said, adding, "I asked him to take care of all this stuff." The 6-foot-3, 246-pounder (who's at the NFL Scouting Combine) has been responding to curious NFL teams in a similar manner. He's a part of one of the more widely publicized portions of the suit, as he's been accused of punching former Volunteer Drae Bowles in the locker room in 2014 after Bowles helped a rape victim who was allegedly assaulted by a pair of Tennessee players. Eight women are suing the university for fostering a "hostile sexual environment."

Tennessee senior LB Curt Maggitt (hip) will not seek a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA.

Maggitt was a terror during the 2014 campaign, accumulating 11 sacks. Alas, the 6-foot-3, 246-pound senior suffered a hip injury against Oklahoma in the second game of the season and hasn't played since. His MRI in mid-November failed to improve his prognosis. Rather than ask for another year from the NCAA, he's opting to hang it up. We don't really blame him. The slight break of his hip was actually the second major injury he suffered with the Vols. In 2013, he sustained a torn ACL in the right knee. In an Instagram post, he expressed his gratitude to all involved in his time at the university. "Thank you so much for the memories the past 5 years Tennessee! I will truly miss everything about being a UT football player!" Maggit wrote.

Tennessee senior LB Curt Maggitt underwent an MRI to check the progress of his hip injury, but his status is unchanged.

Maggitt chipped a bone in his hip during the second game of the season. "Anything would be speculation to say whether he’d be able to play in the bowl game or not," head coach Butch Jones said. Maggitt is one of the Vols most consistent players on defense and is used in a variety of alignments. This is his last season playing for Tennessee.

Tennessee redshirt senior edge rusher Curt Maggitt will miss around eight weeks with a hip injury.

On Monday, head coach Butch Jones said Maggitt would miss an extended period of time with the freak injury. Specifically, Maggitt has a "small chipped bone" in his hip. The veteran is a crucial piece to Tennessee's front seven thanks to his versatility. The Vols let the game against Oklahoma slip away, and the loss of Maggitt will likely impact the effectiveness of the defense in the coming weeks. They face Western Carolina next.

Tennessee redshirt senior edge rusher Curt Maggitt will be an out an "extended period of time" with a hip injury.

Jones called the injury "freakish." Maggitt's loss was felt in Tennessee's defeat to Oklahoma. The Vols were close to so many sacks that could have changed the course of the game, but disruption was not production in this case. Head coach butch Jones said some defensive linemen played 85-90 snaps against the Sooners. Tennessee faces Western Carolina next.

Tennessee redshirt senior edge rusher Curt Maggitt "is a physical specimen who flashes brilliance but needs to round out his game," observes TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

The analyst grades Maggitt as a preseason Rd. 4 prospect, but that comes with a caveat. "I’ve stamped him as a fourth rounder but a top 75 selection is a possibility with a good campaign," Pauline wrote. The 6-foot-3, 246-pound Maggitt earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2014, recording 11 sacks.

Tennessee redshirt senior edge rusher Curt Maggitt continued to work on hand use for over an hour during a recent summer training session.

Maggitt is used all over the defensive formation, seeing time at all edge and linebacker spots. We aren't sure how athletic Maggitt is, so he might need to "win" with technique to create separation and put his opponent off balance.

Tennessee redshirt senior edge rusher Curt Maggitt was No. 3 in pass rush productivity in the FBS last season, according to PFF.

A previously blurb already outlined the array of snaps Maggitt played all over the Volunteers defensive front. In 2014, Maggitt racked up 23 hurries, eight sacks and four quarterback hits. Tennessee's front seven could be one of the best in the nation.

Tennessee redshirt senior Curt Maggitt saw snaps at five different spots along the defensive front in 2014.

According to PFF's Jack Farrell, Maggitt saw 160 snaps at LDE, 95 at RDE, 167 at LLB, 115 at RLB and 21 at MLB. Maggitt missed the 2013 season due to a torn ACL suffered in November of the previous season. This kind of snap and position versatility could help Maggitt during the draft process. That is, if he shows an ability to win from multiple spots.

NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter writes that Tennessee redshirt senior OLB Curt Maggitt's "rush ability, unselfishness, and experience at Sam and Mike in Tennessee's 3-4 scheme give him value at the next level."

"In addition to the explosiveness and bend off the edge that he shows as a pass rusher, the four-year starter gives up his body to bring leverage against the run, sealing the edge so others can make the tackle," Reuter wrote. The 6-foot-3, 246-pound Maggitt earned second-team All-SEC honors by posting 11 sacks last year. A torn ACL cost him part of 2012 and all of 2013, so Maggitt's health must be monitored.

Sports on Earth's Matt Brown ranks Tennessee redshirt senior OLB Curt Maggitt as the No. 10 LB in the country.

The 6-foot-3, 246-pounder teams with sophomore Derek Barnett to give the Vols a dangerous pass rush combination. After tearing his ACL in November 2012 and sitting out the entire 2013 season while recovering, Maggitt broke out in 2014 with 11 sacks, 15 TFL and 48 tackles to earn second-team All-SEC honors. Health remains a huge scouting concern. Maggitt sat out spring practices following shoulder surgery.

Tennessee head coach Butch Jones does not expect junior OLB Curt Maggitt to play this season.

Maggitt tore his ACL last November, and the coaching staff suggested he could return this season, even as early as September. However, the school's plans seemed to have changed, and Maggitt will likely take a redshirt year. He registered 3.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore.

Tennessee junior OLB/DE Curt Maggitt could be close to returning from his torn ACL suffered last November.

The injury was to Maggitt's right knee. The junior worked out and wore pads during Tuesday's practice but wore a green non-contact jersey. We doubt Maggitt plays against Western Kentucky this weekend.

Tennessee starting sophomore OLB Curt Maggitt will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Maggitt started all nine games this season in Sal Sunseri's 3-4 defense as a rush linebacker. The sophomore had played well in the last three games, registering 3.5 tackles for loss, but was seemingly ineffective otherwise.
