Colts selected Utah State RB Kerwynn Williams with the No. 230 overall pick.
Williams (5-foot-8 1/8, 195) emerged from 2012 draft picks Robert Turbin and Michael Smith's shadow to rip off 1,512 yards and 15 touchdowns on 218 carries (6.94 YPC) in 2012. He added 45 catches for 697 yards (15.5 YPR) and five more scores. Williams' versatility is attractive, but he's more of an undersized straight-line speedster, albeit with absolutely blazing wheels. He ranked fourth among running backs at the Combine in both forty time (4.48) and the ten-yard split (1.52). In a best-case scenario, Williams would be groomed to take a larger role in 2014 when Donald Brown is a free agent. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 06:34:00 PM

Eagles RB coach Duce Staley put Utah State RB Kerwynn Williams through his pro day workout.

Williams reportedly also caught punts and kickoffs from a Jugs machine. There's no doubting Williams' straight-line speed once given an alley and some open field, but we wonder if he can hold up in a larger role.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Utah State's Kerwynn Williams as his fifth RB.

"Williams is a sleeper I really like," Kiper writes. The short runner did not earn a lot of touches prior to this year, running behind Robert Turbin and Michael Smith. He's got great straight-line speed and can make the most of open sapce, but Williams could be a one trick pony in that regard.

Utah State senior RB Kerwynn Williams will attend the East-West Shrine Game.

Williams' bowl game performance was a microcosm of his impact: start with a few short runs until breaking multiple big gains due to vision and straight-line speed. Along with Vanderbilt's Zac Stacy, expect the running backs to be among the more talented positions during Shrine week.

Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl tweeted that Utah State senior RB Kerwynn Williams was a "pleasant surprise" on tape.

Weidl said that Williams' versatility is obvious, but he likes the senior's "instincts and balance for a smaller back." The same sentiment was shared by SI's Tony Pauline a few weeks ago, stating that Williams could move into the top-100 selections.

Utah State will play Toledo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on December 15.

Aggies Kerwynn Williams will headline the list of senior talent for many, with SI's Tony Pauline saying the running back could slip into the Draft's top-100 selections. Utah State receiver Chuck Jacobs and quaterback Chuckie Keeton are two others, but we feel strongly that cornerback Will Davis will be the top selection playing in this game.

Utah State senior RB Kerwynn Williams could "slip into the draft's initial 100 selections," according to SI's Tony Pauline.

Two running backs were selected form Utah State last season, and neither was a top-100 pick (Robert Turbin, 106 - Michael Smith, 212). Pauline thinks Willaims could be "a versatile skill player with potential as a third down back at the next level." He also cites the weakness of this running back group as evidence.

Utah State senior RB Kerwynn Williams rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries Saturday against Idaho.

He added four receptions for 39 yards and another score. Williams has put together a solid season, his first as a starter, and if drafted he will be the third running back chosen from the Aggies in just two years.
