Miami redshirt freshman LB Eddie Johnson will drop down to the JUCO level.
The school announced in mid-March that Johnson was no longer a part of the football team after being suspended on two separate occasions. Johnson will now attend Hinds Community College. He was one of the top defensive players for the Canes in 2012, so hopefully Johnson changes his path. May 1 - 8:33 AM

Miami has indefinitely suspended redshirt freshman LB Eddie Johnson.

Johnson's return next season reportedly is "50-50 at this point." Beat writer Jorge Milian tweeted "Johnson is an outstanding talent whose biggest opponent appears to be himself." Head coach Al Golden previously said Johnson needed to "grow up" after he was suspended twice in a three week period.

Miami head coach Al Golden stated that LB Eddie Johnson needs to "grow up" after the redshirt freshman was suspended for the second time in three weeks.

Johnson has been in violation of unspecified team rules multiple times. "I'm disappointed that he's not doing the things he needs to do," coach Golden said. Fellow linebacker Perryman added, "I'm not saying a lot of us don't have obstacles in our life, but at the same time, you have to fight through it." Despite the off field issues, Johnson has done well when given a chance on the field.
