Chiefs selected Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce with the No. 63 overall pick.
Kelce (6-5, 255) is a sure-handed receiver and flashed dominant in-line blocking ability for Cincinnati, reminiscent of Heath Miller. He lasted this long due to character concerns; Kelce was suspended for the entire 2010 season for reasons thought to be drug-related. Kelce caught 45 balls for 722 yards (16.0 YPR) and eight touchdowns as a senior. At his April 4 Pro Day, Kelce ran 4.62 with a 37-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad jump -- better numbers than both Tyler Eifert and Zach Ertz. A pro-ready blocker, the athletic measurables suggest Kelce could become an elite all-around tight end if his head is on straight. He has an awful lot of long-term fantasy potential. There have been reports of off-field issues regarding Kelce, namely drugs and poor attitude, but his talent is undeniable.

Detroit Lions writer Mike O'Hara noted that Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce missed the entire 2010 season "reportedly for failing a drug test."

O'Hara ranks Kelce as the fifth best player at the position. The report makes sense because there was no criminal report or other story attached to the suspension, so it was dealt with in-house. Kelce is an outstanding talent, but this will be something teams have done their homework on.

Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce ran an unofficial forty in the 4.6s and registered a 37-inch vertical jump during his personal pro day work out.

Kelce had surgery to repair a hernia following the season, which kept him out of the Senior Bowl and Combine. He is a very intriguing inline prospect, successfully blocking defensive linemen at the line of scrimmage and improved comfort as a downfield receiver. However, Kelce was suspended for an entire season and the reasons have yet to be disclosed.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley believes "this is time" for the Steelers to find their future replacement at TE for Heath Miller.

Hensley writes that the top tight ends in the draft are: Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert (first round), Stanford's Zach Ertz (first or second round), Florida's Jordan Reed (third round) and Cincinnati's Travis Kelce (third or fourth round). The last one on that list makes a lot of sense, since Kelce is an inline option than might be available in the latter parts of the second day or fourth-round range.

Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce will not participate in COmbine activities due to an abdominal injury.

He showed up with 6'4 7/8 inches and 255 pounds, with 33 3/4 inch arms. Kelce missed the Senior Bowl for unspecified reasons, but the two are likely connected. We think Kelce has a chance to be the first senior tight end selected, but his limited participation during the pre-draft process doesn't help his cause.

Later in the same quarter, Kelce lined up as a bracketed receiver and converted a seam catch for 83 yards due to excellent straight-line strides to pull away from the defense. The likely third day pick will help an NFL roster.
