Ole Miss redshirt junior LB Denzel Nkemdiche returned to the football team following his spring suspension.
"He's back with us now," said coach Hugh Freeze on the final day of SEC media days Thursday. Nkemdiche was suspended in February after he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. "He's doing everything right ... since the issue that we had," Freeze said. "The plan I put in place, he's done everything I've asked him to do. It includes a one-game suspension, and hopefully that's the extent of it and he's back with us ready to go." Jul 19 - 7:50 PM

A video on YouTube depicted Ole Miss junior LB Denzel Nkemdiche directing a profanity-laced tirade toward a group of rival fans.

The video has since been deleted, but the damage might have already been done. Nkemdiche's one-game suspension -- due to an arrest in February for disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with a police officer -- is in jeopardy of expanding. "I’m not happy with him, not proud of it, hope he’s not. It’s definitely not what we want to be about and the way you want to handle (a situation) regardless of what initiated it or caused it," Rebels coach Hugh Freeze said. "There’s a way to handle adversity and controversy, and it’s certainly not that, and that’s been made clear to him."

Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche have filed a counter-suit seeking $2 million against a man who sued and accused them of beating him up.

"Nkemdiche would state and show that he suffered and sustained harm, injuries, damages, and/or losses as a result of the false and defamatory statements made by plaintiff/counter-defendant Matthew Baird and that, therefore, Nkemdiche is entitled to a judgement against (Baird) for compensatory damages in an amount to be determined by the jury," the lawsuit reads. Denzel Nkemdiche was suspended for the school's 2014 opener against Boise State, while Robert hasn't been disciplined by the program.

Ole Miss junior LB Denzel Nkemdiche has been suspended for the school's 2014 opener against Boise State.

Nkemdiche was arrested in February for disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with a police officer. The older brother of top recruit, Robert, will not be allowed to participate in spring practice, which began Tuesday. "... I hope (Nkemdiche) can really learn from mistakes that have been made and get back to being who he can be. He's a good kid," head coach Hugh Freeze said.

Ole Miss junior LB Denzel Nkemdiche was arrested and charged this past weekend with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with a police officer.

All charges are misdemeanors, and were levied on Saturday, Nkemdiche's 21st birthday. Fellow linebacker Serderius Bryant was also arrested this weekend in a separate incident. "We are aware of the incidents and gathering facts. Denzel and Serderius are suspended until we know more," coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement. On Monday, Nkemdiche tweeted: "Hopefully I won't be judged by the exaggerated claims of how I acted on my 21st birthday. I still know what's important in life.. God got me."

Ole Miss redshirt sophomore LB Denzel Nkemdiche will play versus Alabama, according to CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman.

Nkemdiche missed the last two games due to a meniscus injury in his knee. The redshirt sophomore will not start but will play against the top ranked Crimson Tide. Alabama's offensive line has looked questionable at times this season, so Ole Miss' young defense could create some pressure in the passing and running games.

Ole Miss redshirt sophomore LB Denzel Nkemdiche is planning on returning from a knee injury against Alabama on Saturday.

Nkemdiche tore his meniscus in the season opener against Vanderbilt and has missed practice since. The redshirt sophomore did return to practice on Wednesday, but he could be limited for the rest of the week. "The big question was: Would there be a lot of swelling in the knee? We were pleased that he did not have any and feel very good about it," head coach Hugh Freeze said.

Ole Miss redshirt sophomore LB Denzel Nkemdiche will miss the next four to six weeks with a knee injury.

Denzel, the older brother of top recruit Robert Nkemdiche, made his presence felt last season but was expected to play even more meaningful minutes this year. The knee injury will require surgery, and the timetable makes us think it is arthroscopic. The school beat Vanderbilt in their season opener, and the older Nkemdiche ended the game with five tackles.

Ole Miss redshirt freshman LB Denzel Nkemdiche registered 12 tackles for loss, including three sacks, in his first season of playing time.

Nkemdiche is very undersized, but his speed allows him to make plays behind his line. Denzel's younger brother is the nation's top recruit, so the older Nkemdiche's success and the improvement of the Rebels program could help lure the younger sibling to Ole Miss.
