Browns selected San Diego State CB Leon McFadden with the No. 66 overall pick.
McFadden (5-10, 193) was a 3 1/2-year starter at outside corner, logging 13 career tackles for loss and eight interceptions, including two pick-sixes as a senior. Smallish with short arms (32 3/8") and 4.54 speed, McFadden was viewed by most teams as a slot corner during the pre-draft process. He's quick in a short area with high football IQ, and has been called "an absolutely terrific player" by Greg Cosell. McFadden should compete for a starting job in Cleveland opposite Joe Haden. San Diego State CB Leon McFadden says he's been asked about playing the slot corner position.

"That's something I wouldn't mind playing and something I will have to learn obviously because I didn't play it in college," McFadden said. "I'm willing to take that task on." It takes a specific skill-set to play the slot corner spot, notably quick feet and discipline. NFL Network's Mike Mayock previously lauded McFadden for being light on his feet.

San Diego State CB Leon McFadden ran an official 4.54 forty at the NFL Combine.

McFadden added a 1.53 10 yard split, 34.5-inch vertical, and 119-inch broad jump. He might not be one of the top names, but expect McFadden to be selected during the draft's second day, since he fits in the top portion of the senior cornerback class.

San Diego State CB Leon McFadden "has been one of the defensive stars" during Senior Bowl week and is "creating quite a buzz in scouting circles," according to the NFL Network's Bucky Brooks.

Brooks believes McFadden has "shown exceptional short-area quickness and burst in coverage" while displaying an ultra competitive demeanor. He added that the San Diego State Aztec needs some help when in off coverage, but McFadden has "piqued the interest of everyone in attendance."

San Diego State senior CB Leon McFadden has accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.

McFadden also accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl just last week. Evaluators will love to see the Aztec senior double dip the all star game circuit, if he in fact goes through with both events. These types of practices can really show how well a corner can stick with receivers in man to man coverage.
