Vikings selected Virginia Tech CB Antone Exum with the No. 182 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Exum (5-foot-11 5/8, 213) tore his right ACL in January of 2013, and his final college season was marred by ankle woes. He was a standout performer when healthy, earning second-team All-ACC honors during a five-interception junior year. Exum saw action at safety, outside corner and slot corner for the Hokies. He projects best to the former position after clocking 4.59 at the Combine with a 35-inch vertical. Exum figures to focus on special teams as a rookie, but could eventually develop into a contributor on defense. May 10 - 4:02 PM

NFL Media analayst Mike Mayock says NFL teams look at Virginia Tech DB Antone Exum as both a safety and corner.

The 6-foot, 213-pound Exum's medical history includes a torn ACL and lateral meniscus of his right knee that cost him some of his senior year; a sprained left ankle a few games later cost him the rest. He's muscular, has experience at safety, and is very sharp. Provided he recovers fully from off-season knee surgery, Exum could be a Day 3 steal.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler calls Virginia Tech DB Antone Exum's 2012 tape "outstanding."

"Exum seems to be the forgotten man in this CB class," Brugler tweeted, noting durability is the question. We feel Kyle Fuller is the bet talent at corner, but Exum could make the move to safety. His name could be called in the third-round, but a third day pick is more likely.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler calls Virginia Tech CB Antone Exum "the forgotten man in this CB class."

It makes sense, as injuries ravaged the 2013 campaign of this once hyped prospect. "Outstanding junior tape (21 passes defended)," Brugler tweeted, "durability is the question." Exum's medical history includes a torn ACL and a bum wheel that stole his senior season. He'll drop enough in the draft that the risk inherent to picking a prospect with his health concerns will be mitigated.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum has been ruled out for the school's regular season finale against Virginia.

Exum has been dealing with an ankle injury after he late return to the field following offseason ACL surgery. The Hokies are also missing senior corner Kyle Fuller after he underwent surgery for a core muscle injury. It helps to have some impressive young pieces in the secondary, however.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum will miss Saturday's game against Maryland with a left ankle injury.

Exum has missed a huge portion of his final season. He received plenty of acclaim this offseason for his play last year, and although that talent hasn't disappeared, sitting on the bench has limited Exum's tape. We wouldn't be shocked if he makes a move to safety due to his versatility.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum is dealing with a left ankle injury sustained against Miami.

Exum was immediately taped up on the sideline but never returned. Exum has had a shortened season due to offseason knee surgery, so having to deal with another injury is never a good thing.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum plans to start against Duke, which would be his first on-field action this season.

"That’s what I’m preparing for and all that," Exum told reporters. "I’m not going to give a clear answer until I’m actually out there, because we know how that’s gone in the past. But that’s the plan for me to play this weekend. I’m prepared to be the starting corner come Saturday." Exum tore his ACL last winter and has struggled to get back on the field this year. He and Kyle Fuller form quite a tandem, and the Hokie freshmen at the position have also impressed.

Virginia Tech defensive backs coach Torian Gray expects senior CB Antone Exum to play against Duke.

The decision is up to Exum, who has seemingly lowered his expectations each week after stating he would play in the season opener, which obviously did not happen. "I try to keep a focus and a tunnel vision of what I need to do to get back and play at a high level," he said. Exum received a lot of attention over the summer, but teammate Kyle Fuller might be the better prospect.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum (knee) will not play Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Exum hasn't touched the field this season following a torn ACL and subsequent surgery last winter. It was believed that he would play in each of the Hokies' past two games, but apparently Exum's knee isn't responding to stress as he would like.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum (knee) will not play Saturday against North Carolina, contrary to what defensive coordinator Bud Foster told the media earlier this week.

The Hokies announced over Twitter that Exum "will not dress [Saturday] per his own choice" because he "[w]ants to give the knee a little more time before going full game speed." Foster believed that Exum, who has been sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL last winter, would be able to play in a limited capacity against UNC. Exum earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2012.

Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster said senior CB Antone Exum (knee) will play in 10 or 20-percent of the team's defensive snaps against North Carolina this weekend.

Freshman Brandon Facyson will start and split reps "80/20, maybe 90/10" with Exum, according to Foster. Exum has been sidelined following surgery to repair a torn ACL last winter. Though Exum is a lauded prospect, the Hokies' secondary, led by senior Kyle Fuller, has been thriving to this point. It wouldn't be a surprise if Foster and head coach Frank Beamer try using Exum at safety at some point.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum has been cleared to play versus UNC for the first time this season.

Exum drew plenty of attention this summer form evaluators, but has been sidelined following a torn ACL and subsequent surgery last winter. Senior corner Kyle Fuller has played some great football but so have the Hokie freshmen at the position. Exum could see some time at safety, and he might project there to the NFL.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum hopes to be cleared this Saturday and return for the following week's game against UNC.

Exum will me with Dr. James Andrews on Saturday in the hopes of practicing on Monday. If the senior is declared healthy, he will be a little less than eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL and bone fracture in his right knee. Fellow senior Kyle Fuller has really stepped up in Exum's absence, but the duo would present headaches for opposing receivers.

Virginia Tech senior CB Antone Exum will miss at least the next two contests while recovering from a knee injury.

The knee injury, a torn ACL, occurred last winter, but Exum seemed certain he would play early and often during the offseason. The Hokies face Marshall and Georgia Tech in the next two weeks, but the October 5 game against UNC "could be a realistic" return date. Freshmen cornerbacks Kendall Fuller and Brandon Facyson have played well in his absence.
