Cal DL DeAndre Coleman ran his pro day forty in the mid-4.9s, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.
Coleman also looked good in drills, per Pauline. The Cal Bear was lost in the shuffle at the Senior Bowl and will likely be a third day selection, but he offers a large five technique frame (6'5/300 lbs), which some might call "upside." Mar 19 - 10:55 AM

Cal senior DL DeAndre Coleman accepted an invitation to play in the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl.

The mammoth 6-foot-5, 315-pounder is a likely third-day selection. Coleman's versatility is as prized as his frame, as he has experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3 schemes. Coleman led the Golden Bears in tackles for loss with a career-high 9.0 in 2013. He briefly considered bolting for last year's NFL Draft, but made the right call in returning to school.

Coleman led the Golden Bears in tackles for loss with a career-high 9.0 in 2013. Coleman briefly considered bolting for the 2013 NFL Draft, but he made the right call in returning to school. He's likely to hear his name called on the draft's third day.

Cal head coach Sonny Dykes noted senior DL DeAndre Coleman needs to play better.

"Deandre’s a heck of a player. He’ll play better and we’ll coach him better," Dykes said. Coleman enters the season as a possible 5 technique projection in the NFL, which is always a position of value on draft weekend. He's a bit of a project but has great upside.

Cal senior DL DeAndre Coleman could be a riser this season, according to former NFL scout John Middlekauff.

Coleman has tape at both defensive end in a three man front and defensive tackle in a three man front. "While I have not studied him on tape, (with) that size/length he will be someone all NFL teams closely monitor," Middlekauff tweeted. "Can't coach size."

Cal junior DL DeAndre Coleman will reportedly return for the 2013 season.

Coleman had been rumored to be leaving for April's draft, but the prospect with upside will return for his senior season. He possesses a great frame and seems to project as a five technique end in a three man front, which is a position that has traditionally been drafted earlier than expected. Still, Coleman has some technical things to sharpen up in his game, so we take no issue with this decision.

SI's Tony Pauline is hearing that Cal junior DE DeAndre Coleman will enter the NFL Draft.

Coleman is a very well built lineman that started the majority of the season at defensive end. Pauline says the Bear will "likely go much earlier than currently projected." We feel the same since he likely projects to five technique in a three man front, a position that usually lacks draftable prospects.
