Bengals selected Ohio State OT Reid Fragel with the No. 240 overall pick.
Fragel (6-foot-7 5/8, 308) spent his first three seasons as a blocking tight end for the Buckeyes before converting to right tackle as a senior and starting all 12 games. Inexperienced on the line but a plus athlete, Fragel ran 5.14 at the Combine with a 30-inch vertical and 33 reps on the bench. Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris is a big fan of Fragel's tape, but he's going to have to fill out a bit before becoming a competitive NFL run blocker. In Cincy, he'll try to earn a roster spot behind Andre Smith. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 07:01:00 PM

NFL.com's Gil Brandt writes that Ohio State T Reid Fragel's arms measured in 1 1/2 inches shorter at his pro day.

Fragel's arm length was 31 1/2 at his pro day whereas it was 33 inches at the NFL Scouting Combine. It's unsure exactly why this is the case but it didn't stop Brandt from comparing the prospect to former Ohio State tackle Alex Boone, who now plays for the San Francisco 49ers. Fragel has met with multiple teams, including the Bears, Lions, Giants, Dolphins, Patriots and Bengals.

Ohio State T Reid Fragel visited the New Orleans Saints on April 13.

Fragel has been receiving a significant amount of interest recently, visiting six teams prior to the Saints. The teams include the Lions, Bears, Dolphins, Giants, Patriots and Bengals. He's viewed as an underrated prospect that could go in the late second or early third round.

Ohio State T Reid Fragel has six team visits scheduled, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

Those six teams are: the Lions, Bears, Dolphins, Giants, Patriots, and Bengals. Pauline calls Fragel "possibly (the) most underrated RT moving toward (the) draft." Our own Josh Norris ranked Fragel as the No. 65 overall player last month. As long as the Buckeye stays more patient in his posture, he has the mean streak to be a starting caliber tackle.

National Football Post's Russ Lande writes Ohio State OT Reid Fragel's stock is rising, potentially rocketing up to the third or fourth round.

"Few offensive tackle prospects in this year’s Draft possess Fragel’s height, long arms, feet and overall athleticism," Lande writes. "Evaluators have been impressed with his ability to kick slide out to protect the corner while maintaining good base so that he can re-direct and adjust to different pass rush moves. While his draft stock is no doubt rising, the concern that has been voiced to us is that his playing strength needs to greatly improve. For a 300+ pounder he gets driven backwards by bull rushers and struggles to consistently get movement on in-line run blocks."

The Houston Texans were awarded a third-round compensatory selection, pick No. 95.

A third-round selection is the highest pick a team can be awarded, and the Texans' is likely a result of losing Mario Williams. We prospect like Reid Fragel could be a target for the Texans in that range, since the collegiate right tackle is athletic for his size and is being overlooked after having to sit out the Senior Bowl.

The Sideline View's Lance Zierlein does not believe right tackle will be among the Texans' priorities during the draft.

"Zone teams usually take off (in the) second year their oline has plyed together," Zierlein tweeted. "For that reason, I don't think Texans will make (right tackle) a priority in (the) draft." The Texans lost Eric Winston in free agency last year, but moved on with Derek Newton.

Ohio State senior T Reid Fragel will attend the NFL Combine.

Fragel, a Senior Bowl invite, was part of the first round of Combine invitations. Tackle participation during drills at the Combine is very hit or miss. Obviously the bench press will be looked at, but arm length has a significant effect on that result. A strong forty and solid mirroring skills could be areas for Fragel to show off, since he is fairly athletic for the position.

Ohio State T Reid Fragel has been invited to the Senior Bowl.

Fragel played in every game he dressed for during his collegiate career, including nine at tight end. NFL evaluators always seek out athletic offensive linemen with tight end-like feet, and Fragel fits that mold. He could improve his evaluation during senior bowl week by stoning power rushers and mirroring in pass protection.
