Falcons selected TCU DE Stansly Maponga with the No. 153 overall pick.
Maponga (6-foot-2, 256) looked like a rising star as a sophomore when he racked up 13.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and five forced fumbles. Playing through a foot injury that may still require surgery, Maponga's effectiveness dipped in 2012 (6.5 TFLs, four sacks) but he still declared for the draft. Maponga ran 4.84 at his Pro Day with a 29.5-inch vertical and 30 reps on the bench. He's an edge rusher with deceptive power. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff loves taking late-round fliers on pass rushers, although to this point none of them have panned out. Maybe Maponga can change that. Apr 27 - 2:58 PM

TCU DE Stansly Maponga likely needs foot surgery, but the pass rusher plans on getting a second opinion.

Maponga participated in the TCU Pro Day and put up decent numbers for his size. We don't expect the junior to be a second day pick, but with some refinement Maponga could be a nice leverage and power rusher off the edge.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports teams worked out TCU DL Stansly Maponga as a linebacker at his pro day.

"Maponga played defensive end in college, but is also being worked out at linebacker (as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 base defense). The NFL linebackers coaches present worked out Maponga," Brandt writes. Maponga is a shade under six-foot-two and weighs 251 pounds.

TCU DE Stansly Maponga ran a 4.84 and 4.85 forty at the school's Pro Day.

Maponga also recorded a 29.5 inch vertical and managed 30 reps on the bench press. We expect the TCU junior to be an early third day pick, but Maponga could develop into a solid pass rusher due to his leverage and hand strength.

TCU DE Stansly Maponga is a favorite of former NFL scout Bryan Broaddus.

When asked for a name of a defensive end outside of the top two rounds, Broaddus named Maponga. The junior somewhat unexpectedly declared for April's draft, but his compact build allows for leverage and leg drive to press the pocket from the edge.

TCU DE Stansly Maponga underwent post-season foot surgery to correct an injury that cost him two games in 2012.

The extent of the injury is unknown, but surgery is something that could prevent Maponga from participating at February's Scouting Combine. It makes his decision to enter the draft all the more perplexing after coach Gary Patterson advised Maponga to stay in school. He may be difficult for NFL teams to justify as more than a sixth- or seventh-round flier in April's draft.

TCU DE Stansly Maponga will forgo his senior season and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Per TCU coach Gary Patterson, "all of the NFL scouts" he'd spoken to advised Maponga to stay for his senior season. The 2013 NFL Draft is incredibly rich on defensive ends, and Maponga isn't considered one of the better ones. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Mac Engel suggests Maponga's decision "smells like another kid who simply does not want to go to school." Maponga started 8-of-10 games in 2012, managing six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He did have 13.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a sophomore.
