Bears signed Florida State LB Christian Jones.
Jones (6-foot-3 1/8, 240) was a versatile piece in FSU's defense, seeing action at both Sam and Will, inside 'backer, edge rusher, and on special teams. He primarily rushed the passer as a senior, recording eight tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception en route to second-team All-ACC accolades. Jones' length (33 1/2" arms) and above-average athleticism (4.74 forty, 33 1/2" vertical) give him a chance to be an eventual sub-package asset, and he is an efficient enough tackler to contribute on first and second down early on. Ideally, he would become an Akeem Ayers-type player. Jones slipped out of the draft because of a reported failed drug test at Febuary's Scouting Combine but has all the talent to develop into a starter for the Bears. May 11 - 3:22 PM

Former NFL scout Bryan Broaddus has heard "some things" that might keep FSU LB Christian Jones away from the Dallas Cowboys.

However, Broaddus notes that he "loves the player." We are not sure what "things" Broaddus might be referring to, whether it be scheme fit or something else. Jones frequently changed roles while in school, seeing time as an off scrimmage linebacker, strong side player and even edge rusher from a three point stance. It is worth noting that Broaddus is very plugged in to what the Cowboys want to achieve in the draft.

Florida State senior LB Christian Jones accepted an invitation to play in the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl.

ACC Coaches named Jones a Second Team All-ACC selection this season. Jones, 6-foot-4, 232 pounds, is a good-looking athlete with impressive speed and quickness. The senior strongly considered turning pro after leading the Seminoles with 95 tackles during his junior year. After playing outside linebacker during his first three seasons on campus, Jones was shifted inside and became one of the nation's most feared ILBs.

Florida State starting senior LB Christian Jones has been suspended for Saturday's contest against Bethune Cookman.

The suspension stems from a violation of team rules. "It is [disappointing] but it’s all correctable, and it’s all done," head coach Jimbo Fisher said. "But we have to go abide by a certain set of guidelines." Jones is one of the Noles' top defensive starters, lining up inside next to Telvin Smith. Sophomore Terrance Smith will start in his place.

Florida State LB Christian Jones announced Monday that he will stay in school for his senior season.

Jones admitted that he strongly considered turning pro after leading the Seminoles with 95 tackles, starting 14-of-14 games and recovering two fumbles. The fact that both Jones and star safety Lamarcus Joyner are returning should allow Florida State's defense to remain highly competitive in 2013, despite the losses of DEs Bjoern Werner, Tank Carradine, and Brandon Jenkins.
