Colorado State RB Dee Hart logged a rough Speed Score of 75.0 at the combine.
Weighing in at less than 200 pounds, Hart ran the 40 in just 4.80 seconds. According to ESPN, Hart is the third halfback since 2009 with a Speed Score below 80.0, following Robbie Rouse of Fresno State and Ray Graham of Pitt. Both went undrafted. "Hart wasn't a highly regarded prospect, by any means -- Scouts Inc.'s running back rankings have him 23rd in this year's class -- but his 40 performance should scare away any team that was thinking of using even a late-round pick on him," wrote ESPN's Aaron Schatz. Colorado State RB Dee Hart converted three rushing attempts into five yards in Saturday's College Gridiron Showcase.

Hart also got a few kick and punt returning opportunities, but didn't do much with either. It was a disappointing showing from perhaps the game's biggest name. Hart, a second-team all-Mountain West selection, ran for 1,275 rushing yards (eighth best single-season total in school history) and 16 touchdowns this past season. He isn't assured of being drafted.

Colorado State RB Dee Hart is playing in Saturday's College Gridiron Showcase.

"His size obviously precludes him from ever being more than a situational player and special-teamer," wrote College Football 24/7 writer Mike Huguenin. "But Hart -- who was a five-star recruit in high school at powerhouse Orlando Dr. Phillips -- has excellent quickness and is a make-you-miss kind of back. He had injury and off-field issues at Alabama." Hart, a second-team all-Mountain West selection, ran for 1,275 rushing yards (eighth best single-season total in school history) and 16 touchdowns this past season. He isn't assured of being drafted, though he will attend the NFL Scouting Combine next month.

Colorado State senior RB Dee Hart "will have a tough time holding up physically at the next level with his limited frame," according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"Hart will have a tough time holding up physically at the next level with his limited frame, but he could add some spice to a NFL backfield as a change of pace option," Brugler wrote. The former Alabama transfer and second-team all-Mountain West selection, ran for 1,275 rushing yards (eighth best single-season total in school history) and 16 touchdowns. Brugler adds that Hart "doesn't look like much, but he was a jitterbug with the ball in his hands, showing explosive quickness to make defenders miss" at The College Gridiron Showcase.

Dee Hart - RB - Rams

Colorado State senior RB Dee Hart said Friday he is leaving school early to declare for the NFL Draft.

Hart transferred to Colorado State as a graduate over the summer, but he had two years of eligibility remaining. Instead of exhausting them, he's going to roll the dice and enter the draft. "I'm going to declare for the draft," Hart said. "It was just a dream I always had growing up, and it's an opportunity I have this season, so I want to take advantage of it." Hart, a second-team all-Mountain West selection, ran for 1,275 rushing yards (eighth best single-season total in school history) and 16 touchdowns. He isn't assured of being drafted. You might recall that CSU RB Kapri Bibbs declared early at the end of last season after rushing for 1,741 yards and 31 touchdowns. He went undrafted, eventually landing on the Broncos' practice squad.

Dee Hart - RB - Rams

Colorado State graduate senior RB Dee Hart is considered probable for the school's season opener against Colorado.

Hart, an Alabama transfer, is eligible to play immediately after entering a graduate degree program. In fact, that same program forced Hart to leave practice early on at least one occasion. He has been dealing with an ankle injury but appears to be fine. Hart has a history of knee injuries, which is something to monitor.

Dee Hart - RB - Rams

Colorado State officially added former Alabama redshirt junior RB Dee Hart to the roster.

As a graduate transfer, Hart is eligible to play for CSU in 2014. "I’ve kind of known him since he was a freshman in high school and we’re really excited to give him an opportunity," Rams’ head coach Jim McElwain said. "I’m probably more excited than anything that he just finished his degree and he was the first member of his family to get his college degree, which I’m really proud of because that is something I promised him when I recruited him. Now we’ll give him an opportunity to go get a masters." Hart was rated as the No. 1 running back in the country back in 2011. His tenure with the Crimson Tide included two serious knee injuries, a brief switch to corner, and an off-field arrest for giving false information and possession of marijuana. Hart amassed 43 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown with Alabama.

After lining up at CB during spring activities, Alabama redshirt sophomore Dee Hart will likely stay at RB.

That assumption is from beat writer Andrew Gribble. The team is relatively young at both spots, but Hart's biggest concern should be his health. He missed the past two seasons due to major knee injuries.
