Giants signed USC TE Xavier Grimble.
Grimble (6-foot-4, 261) was underutilized in Lane Kiffin's offense, which made infrequent use of the tight end as a receiver. He finished his three-year career with 69 catches for 731 yards (10.6 YPR) and 11 touchdowns before turning pro. A sub-par athlete (5.02 forty, 9-foot-2 broad jump), Grimble will have to make his living as an in-line tight end, which means he must improve greatly as a blocker. May 11 - 2:37 PM

Former USC interim HC Ed Orgeron believes Xavier Grimble will be an all-pro TE.

"He has an unusual body size for a tight end that looks like a left tackle," Orgeron said. "He can block, run and catch and he’s a great young man." Grimble joined USC as the nation's No. 1 high school tight end recruit, but the position was not frequently used under Lane Kiffin. Grimble has a shot of being a top five prospect at the position.

After stating he would return, USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble told reporters he will declare for May's NFL draft.

"I’ve been at 'SC for four years and have had a pretty productive career," Grimble told the LA Times. "I’m healthy and just want to move on and give it a shot... I feel like it was kind of my time." The tight end has been underused in recent years, but he enters a class that lacks depth at the position despite being very good at the top.

USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble is leaning towards staying in school.

"I feel like with everything that happened this season, I think it would be best for me to stay in school," Grimble told reporters after bowl practice on. "So that's probably what I'm going to be doing." Hopefully Grimble receives a heavier workload next season.

USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble (ankle) is listed as probable for Friday's game against Oregon State.

Grimble suffered the injury in USC's loss against Notre Dame and missed last week's game against Utah. The Trojans are counting on Grimble's availability, as scholarship tight ends Randall Telfer and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick also missed last week's contest. Walk-on tight ends Chris Willson and Nate Guertler saw action against the Utes, and both are expected to play again on Wednesday.

Both injuries were not disclosed but occurred against Notre Dame. The two tight ends are talented, but have combine for only 14 catches on the season. Sophomore Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick will be the only scholarship tight end available against the Utes.

USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble is reportedly drawing a lot of praise from NFL scouts.

The report comes from draft insider Tony Pauline. "If he works out well, if he enters the draft... they are looking at him as a potential second day pick," Pauline said. He notes the tight end class will be helped by the underclassmen. Grimble has been underutilized this season, catching 10 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.

USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble will miss spring activities due to a fractured chest.

The injury was previously identified as a broken rib. Grimble led all Trojans tight ends in receiving last year with 316 yards and five touchdowns. With Robert Woods jumping to the NFL, USC's girth of tight end talent will need to step up.
