NFL.com's Chase Goodbread believes Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy was amongst a group of early draft entrants who were submarined by circumstance.
Joining Purifoy in Goodbread's "hard-luck decisions" group was Mizzou RB Henry Josey, Tennessee OT Tiny Richardson, Notre Dame NT Louis Nix III, and South Carolina DT Kelcy Quarles. All but Nix, a third-rounder, went undrafted for various reasons. As for Purifoy, Goodbread commented: "Dating back to last fall, Purifoy's draft tumble was probably longer and harder than any other. Once seen as a potential first-round pick, he abruptly announced he was turning pro early immediately after Florida's final regular-season game. It's a decision he perhaps should have put more thought into because he went undrafted. Along with character concerns, Purifoy's 4.61 40-yard dash at the combine didn't help matters." The Gator signed with the Colts. May 12 - 11:05 PM

Colts signed Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy.

Purifoy (5-foot-11, 190) made 19 starts for the Gators, registering 4.5 career tackles for loss, two interceptions and five forced fumbles. Despite being a big-name college player, Purifoy is frustrating to watch on film with obvious technical flaws, and poor effort in run support. He plays faster than his 4.61 forty indicates, but still gives up too much separation. Purifoy lacks ball skills and has very small hands (8 1/2"), which suggests he'll never be a playmaker.

Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy will enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

We expect to hear a lot of this regarding much of Florida's draft-eligible talent. Purifoy is a great athlete, but he struggles with technique and loses ground because of it. Part of the cause could be his spending time on offense prior to the season.

Seven NFL teams are attending Saturday's game between Florida and Georgia Southern.

The Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have scouts in attendance.

Florida juniors CBs Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson are leaning towards declaring for the NFL Draft, according to National Football Post's Jason Cole.

This is not a real surprise, as both prospects are talented and Florida has plenty of depth at the position. Roberson's season has been a bit of a let down due to injuries, while Purifoy spent the offseason seeing time on both offense and defense. A large number of corners will likely be selected in the top-64 picks.

Gator Country reports Florida has suspended junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy for the season opener against Toledo, along with two others.

Defensive tackle Darious Cummings, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Quinteze Williams, freshman defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick, and wide receiver Latroy Pittman will also miss the opener. Purifoy is a legitimate NFL prospect and made headlines this offseason after practicing at wide receiver, one of the thinner positions for the Gators. He was listed as a co-starter at corner with Jaylen Watkins, with junior Marcus Roberson locking up the opposite side. Toledo has a chance, especially if they get running back David Fluellen going.

Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease confirmed that Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy will play some offense in 2013.

This isn't breaking news -- Florida head coach Will Muschamp talked about Purifoy's double duties earlier this offseason -- but it's something to keep in mind for both draftniks and college fantasy football players. "There'll be some things involved for him," Pease said. "There'll be a package a week devoted to him either throwing or running." NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah called Purifoy, one of the Gators' top corners, a "freaky athlete." Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay wrote earlier this summer that Purifoy could be the next Joe Haden and "could possibly test better than Haden."

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah named Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy as one of his Top 5 breakout players in 2013.

Purifoy, one of the Gators' top corners who will also play some receiver this season, is a "freaky athlete," according to Jeremiah. Purifoy blocked two kicks last season and is also an impact player on special teams. "I love his toughness and raw athleticism and I believe he's poised to have a huge season," Jeremiah writes.

Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy will begin working with the WRs later this week.

Will Muschamp's plan all along was to have Purifoy line up with the corners for the first 12 practices and then switch over to receiver. The Gators lost offense weapons in Jordan Reed and Mike Gillislee to the NFL, along with Andre DeBose to injury, so Purifoy could be relied on quite a bit. Alternatively, corner is the school's deepest position.

Florida head coach Will Muschamp noted junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy will have a role on offense.

Purifoy is one of the Gators top corners, but the team likes to experiment with moving athletes to different positions, even if only for a short amount of time. The details of the role are uncertain, but we'd expect Purifoy to be used as a decoy or perhaps ball carrier on reverses.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy needs to improve his hand use in press coverage.

Jeremiah notes Purifoy has a high ceiling, adding the corner is "tall, fluid and (possesses) quick feet" when changing direction. "Purifoy got out-muscled by Cordarrelle Patterson a few times. I love his toughness but he needs to get a little stronger," Jeremiah tweeted.

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay believes Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy has a chance to be a superstar in 2013.

"Purifoy isn't the most polished corner in terms of cover skills, but with his combination of size, speed, fluidity, body control and top-end speed there is nothing missing from his physical skill set," McShay writes. The draft analyst added Purifoy could be the next Joe Haden "and he could possibly test better than Haden."

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay believes Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy needs to add strength and improve in off coverage.

However, McShay thinks the Florida defender "has feet, balance, hips, (and) instincts to become (a) top-tier NFL corner." He went on to add all three of the Gators' corners could be drafted. McShay's counterpart, Mel Kiper, listed Purifoy as the No. 10 overall prospect heading into the 2013 season.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Florida junior CB Loucheiz Purifoy as the No. 10 overall prospect heading into the 2013 season.

"An exceptional athlete, Purifoy also provides value as a returner," Kiper writes. "He has the ball skills of a wide receiver and could also see time there in 2013. Can get beat because he's still finding his way in terms of technique, but more seasoning could make him a star." Despite losing multiple defensive prospects to the 2013 NFL Draft, the Gators' defense will remain very talented.
