Rookie Scouting Portfolio's Matt Waldman would recommend James Madison QB Vad Lee as "a late-round player above several options."
The analyst says that Inside The Pylon's Mark Schofield agrees with the assessment. "Lee happens to have the body type and mobility of past quarterbacks like David Garrard and Steve McNair," Waldman wrote. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound Lee, per Waldman, is also an intelligent game manager, an aggressive passer, a "quick processor to read the coverage, his receivers, feel pressure, and integrate this 'data' into a a well-executed decision," is tough and makes advanced reads and displays "good accuracy that can be transformed into pro accuracy." Keep on eye on the underrated former Georgia Tech signal caller as we move through the process. Mon, Mar 7, 2016 04:17:00 PM

Former Georgia Tech QB Vad Lee transferred to James Madison.

Since Lee is moving to the FCS level, he won't be required to sit out a season; he'll be a redshirt junior in 2014. Despite playing in all 13 games this season and leading GT in passing, Lee decided to move on after the season, citing displeasure with Paul Johnson's triple-option offense. "I am so grateful for the 3 years at Tech," Lee tweeted on Monday. "But I am excited for another great opportunity to be apart of the James Madison University family!"

Georgia tech redshirt sophomore QB Vad Lee announced he will transfer to a different program.

"The triple option was never really my thing," Lee said. If that is the case, Lee's choice in school was doomed form the start. Lee is not much of a passer either, completing 45.6 percent of his attempts for 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Georgia Tech will continue to use redshirt sophomore Vad Lee as the starting QB.

Lee has thrown four interceptions and no touchdowns on a 33 percent completion streak in the last three games. Obviously Georgia Tech focuses on running the ball in their triple option attack, but fans could keep calling for Justin Thomas.

After hiring QB coach Bryan Cook from Cal Poly, the Georgia tech triple option offense is expected to go through some changes.

"He has done some interesting things at Cal Poly using the shotgun element as well so I feel like he is a good fit for us," head coach Paul Johnson said. Running back recruit Robert Martin also noted "They’re going to be putting in a lot of shotgun, one-back (sets)."
