Lions selected Notre Dame WR T.J. Jones with the No. 189 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Jones (5-foot-11 5/8, 188) was a four-year starter for the Irish, finishing his career with 181 catches for 2,429 yards (13.4 YPR) and 19 touchdowns. He ran 4.48 at the Combine with a 33-inch vertical and 9-foot-11 broad jump. Jones played Z and slot receiver in college. He exhibits possession skills on tape, and projects as an inside-the-numbers chain mover with limited big-play ability. We probably won't be hearing a ton from him in fantasy despite landing in Detroit's high-powered offensive scheme. Mon, May 12, 2014 08:51:00 AM

He has three contests left to increase his already career-high totals in each category. In August, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly called Jones the best route runner in college football. It's a debatable statement, but Jones has done his best to vindicate his coach's confidence.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly called senior WR TJ Jones the top route runner in college football.

Kelly even stated he thinks Jones could emerge as a first-round prospect. Obviously Jones' head coach is going to pump him up, but there is a chance the senior emerges in his final season. The receiver group in their final year of football is less talented compared to previous classes.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Notre Dame senior WR TJ Jones could emerge as a legitimate NFL prospect in 2013.

"Jones has excellent footwork in his routes and sets up his moves well, doing a nice job working back to the ball to give his quarterback a clean target," Brugler writes. "He fights for the ball and shows strong hands to come down with throws away from his body, making some tough catches look easy. Jones has an accurate sense of his surroundings with good shake after the catch to slither around defenders and explode upfield."
