Louisville coach Charlie Strong announced on Monday that the Cardinals will use four running backs to begin the season.

Strong tabbed Senorise Perry as the starter, but the senior will split time with returning RBs junior Dominique Brown and sophomore Corvin Lamb, as well as highly-touted junior transfer Michael Dyer. Dyer rushed for 2,335 yards and 15 touchdowns over two seasons with Auburn. Perry, who is coming off a torn ACL, was Louisville's second-leading rusher (705 yards) in 2012, while Brown missed last season with a knee injury. Lamb, a high school teammate of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, recorded only 13 carries last year.

Louisville head coach Charlie Strong is unsure if senior RB Senorise Perry will be able to play during the first week of the season.

Perry continues to rehab a torn ACL. "It’s so hard to tell," Strong said. "He went down in November, and for an injury like that it’s almost a full year. We’re going to get out there in camp and not do much with him. Dominique Brown, a more physical runner, will likely carry the load as the lead back if Perry cannot play.
