Redskins selected Louisville S Josh Harvey-Clemons with the No. 230 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Harvey-Clemons (6’4/217) committed to Georgia as a five-star recruit, but got kicked off the team for failing multiple drug tests and resurfaced at Louisville, tallying six tackles for loss and three interceptions as a 22-game starter. He was named second-team All-ACC by the conference’s coaches as a senior. A gargantuan safety with left-tackle arm length (35 3/8") and linebacker experience, Harvey-Clemons offers Kam Chancellor-like tools but a worrisome off-field history. A classic boom-bust prospect, Harvey-Clemons could conceivably become a high-impact NFL starter or fall out of the league quickly. Sat, Apr 29, 2017 06:03:00 PM

Louisville S Josh Harvey-Clemons has been put through private workouts by the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

Harvey-Clemons registered 60 tackles (3.0 for loss) and a sack this past season, earning himself a second-team All-ACC designation at the close of the campaign. Despite strong on-field work throughout his collegiate career, the 6-foot-4, 212-pounder comes with his fair share of baggage, most notably in the form of a pair of failed drug tests for marijuana which got him booted from Georgia. Despite these concerns, he isn't likely to slide through the draft untouched. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline projects him as a potential Round 4 selection.

An AFC North likes Louisville S Josh Harvey-Clemons' toughness, but is concerned about the prospect's failed drug tests.

Harvey-Clemons was dismissed from Georgia following two failed marijuana tests. "I love the athlete and the toughness, but he's a multiple-time (drug) tester on the college level," the scout said. "Those guys have a high rate of testing positive again. I need to do more background work on him but I really worry about suspensions for him." NFL Media's Lance Zierlein compares the 6-foot-4, 212-pound Harvey-Clemons to Kam Chancellor. "Has elite size, length and athletic traits, and is a rangy tackler with the ability to cover and blitz," Zierlein wrote. "He could be considered by teams as a box safety or hybrid linebacker."

Louisville redshirt junior S Josh Harvey-Clemons will return to school in 2016.

Harvey-Clemons is eligible for the draft, but he's not going to be jumping early. The 6-foot-4, 212-pound redshirt junior's grandfather, Woodrow Clemons, indicated that his grandson would only have entered the draft if he was seen as a likely selection in the first or second round. This past season, the Georgia transfer product was named third-team All-ACC on the strength of 88 tackles (two for loss), a sack and three interceptions.

Louisville redshirt junior S Josh Harvey-Clemons picked off two passes in Saturday's loss to Auburn.

A debut to remember for Harvey-Clemons, who sat out last season after transferring from Georgia. The former five-star recruit is an NFL talent. He's an athletic 6-foot-5, 230-pounder who is physical enough to be deployed as a fourth linebacker when needed.

Louisville redshirt sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons "runs well and really lays the wood," notes NFL Media.

Harvey-Clemons, a once highly touted prospect, transferred to Louisville after he was dismissed at Georgia. "His size enables him to play a hybrid linebacker position in the nickel, should Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Grantham (who also was Harvey-Clemons' coordinator at Georgia) go that route," wrote College Football 24/7 writer Bryan Fischer. "Harvey-Clemons already is an important part of Auburn lore: He is the Georgia player who tipped the ball that Ricardo Louis caught for a TD in the 'Prayer at Jordan-Hare' in 2013." Harvey-Clemons should emerge on draft radars this fall.

Former Georgia S Josh Harvey-Clemons will transfer to Louisville,

"He had been suspended for the first three games of the 2014 football season for at least a second violation UGA’s marijuana-use policy when he was dismissed by coach Mark Richt on Feb. 18," beat writer Chip Powers writes. Harvey-Clemons, a once highly touted prospect, will have to sit out the season, but he will have to years of eligibility after that. He follows former Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham to the Cardinals.

Georgia has dismissed junior to be S Josh Harvey-Clemons for a violation of team rules.

Harvey-Clemons served a four game suspension last season and would have sat out the first three games of 2014. Harvey-Clemons was expected to be the Bulldogs' next great defensive player, with some beat writers stating the team's defense was built around him. He was a former five-star recruit.

Georgia junior S Josh Harvey-Clemons will miss the first three games of the 2014 season.

This will be the second suspension for Harvey-Clemons, as the safety missed the first few games of the 2013 season as well. This benching is an extension of Harvey-Clemons' absence from the school's bowl game. Georgia called the suspension a "violation of team rules," and Harvey-Clemons' grandfather later said it was related to academics and would not transfer over to next season, but that is obviously not the case.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons has been suspended for the school's bowl game against Nebraska.

The only details disclosed state Harvey-Clemons and CB Sheldon Dawson have been suspended "due to a violation of team regulations." This is the second missed game for Harvey-Clemons this season for off-field reasons, after he missed the season opener for violating the school's drug policy. The sophomore is a very talented and versatile defensive back, but this could become a trend.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons has been cleared to play against Florida.

Harvey-Clemons injured his foot against Vanderbilt and has missed time since. "I think he'll play, I really do," head coach Mark Richt said. The sophomore is one of the focal points of this defense, and Georgia could go on a late season run with a healthier roster.

Georgia sophomore WR Josh Harvey-Clemons' foot injury will not require surgery.

Harvey-Clemons' availability against Florida has yet to be determined, but the injury is only being labeled as a sprain. Head coach Mark Richt seemed somewhat optimistic that the safety could suit up against the Gators.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons will return this Saturday against South Carolina.

Harvey-Clemons was suspended for the season opener after being involved in a drug related incident this summer. Beat writers said the school practically built their defense around the talented young player. "I think he could play inside backer, I think he could play outside backer and I think he could play DB," defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said of Harvey-Clemons. Georgia's defense is quite young, so Harvey-Clemons fits right in.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt downplayed the loss of sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons for the team's first game of the season.

"Even if Josh was starting for us, he's a pretty inexperienced player right now," Richt said. "Even though they're No. 1 in the spring, (it) didn't necessarily mean they're gonna start when the first game came." A few weeks ago, beat writer Seth Emerson tweeted the school's defensive gameplan for Clemson was basically built around Harvey-Clemons, which somewhat goes against Richt's comments. Harvey-Clemons was suspended after being involved in a drug related incident.
