Georgia has dismissed junior to be S Josh Harvey-Clemons for a violation of team rules.

Harvey-Clemons served a four game suspension last season and would have sat out the first three games of 2014. Harvey-Clemons was expected to be the Bulldogs' next great defensive player, with some beat writers stating the team's defense was built around him. He was a former five-star recruit.

Georgia junior S Josh Harvey-Clemons will miss the first three games of the 2014 season.

This will be the second suspension for Harvey-Clemons, as the safety missed the first few games of the 2013 season as well. This benching is an extension of Harvey-Clemons' absence from the school's bowl game. Georgia called the suspension a "violation of team rules," and Harvey-Clemons' grandfather later said it was related to academics and would not transfer over to next season, but that is obviously not the case.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons has been suspended for the school's bowl game against Nebraska.

The only details disclosed state Harvey-Clemons and CB Sheldon Dawson have been suspended "due to a violation of team regulations." This is the second missed game for Harvey-Clemons this season for off-field reasons, after he missed the season opener for violating the school's drug policy. The sophomore is a very talented and versatile defensive back, but this could become a trend.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons has been cleared to play against Florida.

Harvey-Clemons injured his foot against Vanderbilt and has missed time since. "I think he'll play, I really do," head coach Mark Richt said. The sophomore is one of the focal points of this defense, and Georgia could go on a late season run with a healthier roster.

Georgia sophomore WR Josh Harvey-Clemons' foot injury will not require surgery.

Harvey-Clemons' availability against Florida has yet to be determined, but the injury is only being labeled as a sprain. Head coach Mark Richt seemed somewhat optimistic that the safety could suit up against the Gators.

Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons will return this Saturday against South Carolina.

Harvey-Clemons was suspended for the season opener after being involved in a drug related incident this summer. Beat writers said the school practically built their defense around the talented young player. "I think he could play inside backer, I think he could play outside backer and I think he could play DB," defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said of Harvey-Clemons. Georgia's defense is quite young, so Harvey-Clemons fits right in.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt downplayed the loss of sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons for the team's first game of the season.

"Even if Josh was starting for us, he's a pretty inexperienced player right now," Richt said. "Even though they're No. 1 in the spring, (it) didn't necessarily mean they're gonna start when the first game came." A few weeks ago, beat writer Seth Emerson tweeted the school's defensive gameplan for Clemson was basically built around Harvey-Clemons, which somewhat goes against Richt's comments. Harvey-Clemons was suspended after being involved in a drug related incident.

Georgia beat writer Seth Emerson tweeted that the school's defensive coordinators built the team's defense around sophomore Josh Harvey-Clemons in anticipation for the first game of the season against Clemson.

Harvey-Clemons was set to play the hybrid linebacker/safety role and cover plenty of ground. However, he will now miss the contest due to suspension and the school will have to put forward a "different gameplan," as Emerson put it. Clemson lost two very productive skill position players, but they will still deploy plenty of offensive talent.

Updating a previous item, Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons will be suspended for the school's opening game against Clemson.

Georgia has set a precedent to suspend student athletes who are included in drug related events for around 10 percent of that season's contests. Although no charges were filed, Harvey-Clemons did admit to police that he smoked marijuana after a scale was found. He was expected to be included in the starting lineup.

Projected starting Georgia sophomore S Josh Harvey-Clemons was implicated two weeks ago in a dorm room incident involving marijuana.

Police were reportedly called to a residence hall after the smell of marijuana was thought to be coming from a room with Harvey-Clemons and former Bulldogs tight end Ty Flournoy-Smith. The latter recently left the program to transfer to the JUCO level. No physical evidence of pot was found in a search of the room, and therefore no charges were made, but a digital scale was found and the two admitted to smoking marijuana. Georgia has yet to comment on the matter.
