Cowboys signed Vanderbilt WR Chris Boyd.
Boyd (6-foot-4, 206) was kicked off Vandy's football team prior to the 2013 season after being arrested on an aggravated rape charge. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. As a true freshman and sophomore, Boyd compiled 81 catches for 1,247 yards (15.4 YPR) and 13 scores. Although Boyd displayed NFL-caliber traits as an early-career collegiate, the off-field red flag combined with a 4.73 forty time at the Combine and 12 bench reps torpedoed his stock. He's a talented long shot. May 11 - 4:48 PM

Former Vanderbilt WR Chris Boyd has been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

"I was at the facility in between sessions, and I got it on my phone," he said. "Immediately, I was really thankful, called my dad, mom, my trainer, because we've been waiting on this. I'm just excited. I definitely thought there was still hope, but with the situation I was in, it wasn't something I thought would for sure happen." Boyd was talking about his alleged secondary involvement in a rape charge levied against four of his former Commodores teammates. Boyd wasn't present at the assault and was charged instead with assisting a cover-up attempt after the fact. That charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, but Vanderbilt declined to reinstate him to the football team. Boyd (6-foot-4, 205 pounds) made 50 receptions for 774 yards in 2012.
