Colts selected Georgia LB Amarlo Herrera with the No. 207 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Herrera (6'1/244) made 43 starts for Georgia, recording 23 TFLs, four forced fumbles, and three interceptions. He ran 4.83 at the Combine with a 32-inch vertical and 9-foot-3 broad jump. Although Herrera made plays in pass coverage in college, he doesn't quite have the athleticism for that skill to translate smoothly, and despite his size Herrera isn't a thumper against the run. He projects as a reserve inside linebacker and core special teamer. May 2 - 4:49 PM

Georgia senior ILB Amarlo Herrera "looks great In blitz drills" at East-West Shrine practice, according to TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline.

"Amaro Herrera/Georgia looks great In blitz drills. Constantly applauded by coaches," Pauline tweeted. Back in September, Pauline stamped Herrera with a Round 6 grade and noted that Herrera was "an instinctive linebacker who rarely makes mental errors."

Georgia senior ILB Amarlo Herrera accepted an invite to the East-West Shrine Game.

Herrera measures in at just over 6-feet tall. Though not in possession of an ideal frame, he's built well enough to handle the rigors of making a living in the NFL trenches, and smart enough to potentially thrive. TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline stamped Herrera with a Round 6 grade in September.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline believes Georgia senior ILB Amarlo Herrera is a better prospect than higher-touted teammate Ramik Wilson.

The analyst stamped Herrera with a Round 6 grade (Wilson received the same grade). "Scouts give Ramik Wilson high grades but in my opinion Amarlo Herrera is the better prospect or at least the better player," Pauline wrote. "Though not as athletically gifted compared to his teammate, Herrera is an instinctive linebacker who rarely makes mental errors. Just a fraction over 6-feet tall, Herrera can play at the next level but isn’t a linebacker for everyone."

Georgia ILB Amarlo Herrera has dropped down to 235 pounds in an effort to be more of a playmaker.

Herrera was previously listed at 244 pounds. He might take over for the departed Alec Ogletree, who made a name for himself due to closing speed and range. Georgia has occasionally struggled to use their defensive talent effectively, so hopefully Herrera fills this role correctly.
