Patriots drafted Florida G Jon Halapio with the No. 179 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Halapio (6-foot-3 1/2, 323) started 43 games for the Gators, all at right guard. He showed supreme toughness as a senior, making ten starts despite playing through a partially torn pectoral muscle. An old-fashioned road-grading mauler, Halapio isn't much of an athlete (5.34 forty, 8-foot-4 broad jump) but clears alleys in the run game and has adequate arm length (33 5/8") to be a competitive NFL pass blocker. Scouts Inc.'s Steve Muench believes Florida G Jon Halapio's injury history will scare off NFL teams.

Muench does note that he has "so much respect" for Halapio's "toughness and team first mentality" after the interior offensive lineman played through a pectoral injury. An argument could be made that Halapio was not full healthy until Senior Bowl week, where he put on a great performance. Technique has been an issue for the guard, but he is extremely strong.

Florida redshirt senior G Jon Halapio was immediately taken to the locker room after going to the ground in the first quarter against Tennessee.

Halapio was sidelined for a long stretch of the offseason due to a partially torn pec, which carried into the start of game action. He was just reinserted into the starting lineup. Halapio surprisingly returned to the game shortly after.

Florida redshirt senior G Jon Halapio will make his first start of the season against Tennessee.

Halapio is one of the top interior offensive linemen in the country, but missed the first two games with a torn pectoral muscle this offseason. He'll make the start at right guard and offers tons of power to blast opposing defensive linemen. Halapio could improve his technique, but we expect many evaluators to frequently bring up his name in the next few weeks.

Florida redshirt senior G Jon Halapio will likely miss the first two games of the season.

Bummer. Halapio, the school's starting right guard, suffered a torn pectoral muscle this offseason but surgery was not required. The Gators open with Toledo and face Miami in week two. The extremely strong interior offensive lineman should return for the Tennessee contest. Our own Josh Norris believes Halapio needs to refine his technique, but his aggressions and active vision are major plusses.

Florida G Jon Halapio will miss another seven to 10 days after tearing a pectoral muscle this offseason.

Halapio suffered a partial tear a few days after SEC media days and no surgery was needed. The interior offensive lineman has drawn some preseason buzz for his nasty onfield attitude. He could be one of the first guards selected in next May's draft, although he might not continue the first round run at the position.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah calls Florida redshirt senior G Jon Halapio a "nasty dude" thanks to his blocking style.

Jeremiah takes note of Halapio's crazy upper body strength, counting 13 knockdowns against LSU "and several were pure flat-backs." As we saw last April, the NFL is starting to heavily value interior offensive linemen, and if Halapio can show nice lateral balance and athleticism he could be an early selection in 2014.
