BYU OLB Alani Fua ranks as the sixth-best prospect who wasn't drafted, according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.
Fua primarily played strongside linebacker at BYU and was extremely versatile, doing everything from rushing the passer to covering slot receivers. "He sucks up tight ends with the size, speed and agility that cannot be coached, using his range to be an excellent pursuit player," Brugler wrote. "Athleticism and talent aren't problems for Fua, but he does need to add technique and discipline to his play style. He needs to get stronger and add bulk, but there are questions about how much muscle mass he can add to his frame. Fua's best fit at the next level will depend on scheme, but he has the versatility to stand out on special teams while he develops into a specific role on defense." We're a little surprised Fua wasn't picked after a stellar combine. May 3 - 3:31 PM

BYU LB Alani Fua visited the Eagles on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson.

The fit makes a ton of sense. Fua will likely play the drop linebacker role in an odd man front, similar to what Connor Barwin does for the Eagles currently. Fua should be a third day pick and performed very well at the Combine.

BYU coaches have high expectations for redshirt junior OLB Alani Fua.

"Many are expecting a breakout season from junior Alani Fua, who was a standout throughout spring practices," beat writer Brandon Gurney noted. "Fua’s emergence will allow coaches to tinker with alignments this season in an effort to get the best 11 players on the field at the same time." The Cougars lost versatile pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah to the draft and Fua will likely take over for Kyle Van Noy once he moves on to the next level.
