Maryland redshirt senior RB Wes Brown will be suspended for the opening three games of the 2016 season dude to a violation of the university’s student-athlete code of conduct, which occurred last year.
Brown's suspension started last November, but he was allowed to practice with the team beginning in March. This is not Brown's first suspension, as he missed the entire 2013 season due to an off-field altercation with police. Maryland should go 3-0 to open the season, as they face Howard, FIU and UCF. Brown's suspension last season came at the wrong time, as he had just earned the starting job. Aug 11 - 9:02 AM

Maryland redshirt senior RB Wes Brown's listed on the team roster and participated in practice on Tuesday.

Brown had been suspended indefinitely for violating the student-athlete code of conduct back in November, but HC D.J. Durkin's definition of "indefinite" has apparently reached its statute of limitations. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound redshirt senior rushed for 317 yards (4.5 YPC) and three touchdowns in 2015. Durkin wouldn't address Brown's return specifically, but did praise the depth of the running unit, saying, "All those guys I think have definite strengths and the good thing is they're different than the next guy which makes it nice."

Maryland suspended redshirt junior RB Wes Brown indefinitely for violating the university’s student-athlete code of conduct.

Really unfortunate timing for Brown, who cracked the starting lineup for the first time this season in Saturday's loss to No. 13 Michigan State. "Wes has really picked it up with his execution, his effort, his practice habits," interim coach Mike Locksley said on Nov. 7. A four-star recruit in the class that also netted Stefon Diggs, Brown's career has stalled out again; he was suspended for the entire 2013 season. Brown had rushed for 317 yards and three touchdowns across 10 games.

Maryland has suspended sophomore RB Wes Brown for the year.

Brown’s attorney said his client has agreed to a one-year suspension from Maryland rather than face a university hearing. There is a chance that the running back returns following the fall semester if he hits certain benchmarks, but Brown will enroll at a community college in the meantime. All charges were dropped against brown, but this was part of the plea deal.

All charges against Maryland sophomore RB Wes Brown have been dropped.

Brown had been charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, theft of under $1,000 and illegal wiretapping following an incident in early July. The running back was suspended following the charges, but we expect that to be overturned in the coming days.

Maryland sophomore RB Wes Brown has been suspended following an arrest.

Brown was arrested and charged for second-degree assault of a police officer, theft of under $1,000, and illegal use of wiretapping. The running back actually missed when attempting to hit the cop. Brown was the second-leading rusher on the Terps last season, finishing with 90 carries for 382 yards and two touchdowns.
