It was his first pick of the season. Cox is a former highly regarded JUCO prospect who joined the Bulldogs last season. CBS Sports' Rob Rang wrote over the summer that the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Cox "possesses good flexibility and acceleration to handle coverage duties." He added that Cox is a better fit at corner in the NFL.

Mississippi State senior S Justin Cox "possesses good flexibility and acceleration to handle coverage duties," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

"He possesses good flexibility and acceleration to handle coverage duties, though his straight-line speed is a question," Rang Wrote. Cox was a highly regarded JUCO prospect, before joining the Bulldogs last season. The 6-foot-2, 195 pound Cox started in one game at cornerback, but played in all 13 games. This season the coaching staff has asked the Bulldogs prospect to move to free safety as a senior. Rang adds that Cox "looks more like a traditional cornerback than a safety, possessing a lean, athletic frame."

Mississippi State coaches are privately carrying a lot of excitement for JUCO CB transfer Justin Cox.

The Bulldogs lost two quality corners to the NFL last season in Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay, so Cox will likely be thrown into the fire immediately. "Cox will be an unknown to opposing quarterbacks when the season begins, but don't be surprised if they are throwing away from the West Point, Miss., native by midseason," NFL.com's Chase Goodbread writes. He totaled 11 interceptions and 19 pass breakups over two seasons.
