Saints signed LSU WR Travin Dural.
Dural (6’1/202) made 30 starts for LSU, amassing a 100/1,716/13 (17.2 YPR) career receiving line with descending production in his sophomore through senior years. He battled knee, hamstring, and shoulder injuries in college and struggled with drops at January’s Senior Bowl. Dural is also old for a rookie, turning 24 in October. While Dural deserves something of a pass due to LSU’s horrendous quarterback play, nothing he put on college tape suggests Dural is capable of becoming more than an NFL backup. After running 4.57 in Indy, Dural’s initial NFL ticket will be as special teams help. May 1 - 3:27 PM

An AFC area scout warned against docking LSU WR Travin Dural based on his tape.

"Remember that this is the same program that was able to hold Beckham (Odell Beckham, Jr.) and Jarvis Landry at bay in college," the scout said. "LSU's quarterbacks stink. Dural gets a projection grade because he just didn't do enough on tape." NFL Media's Lance Zierlein compares Dural to Arrelious Benn. "Dural has the size and athletic traits that could push his draft value well beyond his college production that was hindered by a flailing offense that never found a capable quarterback," Zierlein wrote. "While he has legitimate pro talent and deep speed, his average ball skills and body positioning make him a 'high ceiling, low floor' option at wideout." As for Pro Football Focus, they compare Dural to Mike Wallace.

Pro Football Focus compared LSU WR Travin Dural to Mike Wallace.

"Dural’s speed is his biggest asset right now as he can take the top off a defense similarly to how Wallace did the same earlier in his career. However, we can expect the former LSU wideout to struggle on underneath routes, similarly to Wallace," explains the PFF analysis team. At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, he possesses prototypical size for the pro level. Dural did not do much in LSU's watching-paint-dry passing game, but the fact that he played in a dead offense does not detract from his very real skills.

LSU WR Travin Dural accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Dural didn't enjoy much production in college, but the meager numbers were more of a function of LSU's formerly antiquated offense than anything he did or didn't do on the field. Dural boasts good size and a reported sub-4.4 40-yard dash. Because of that size/speed blend, he averaged 17.2 yards per catch during his Tiger career. Also because of that size/speed blend, the NFL is highly intrigued.

LSU WR Travin Dural was invited to the Senior Bowl.

Dural injured his hand prior to the season, missing a large portion of team activities. He also was honest in his admission to gaining 30 pounds earlier in the offseason due to a torn right hamstring that ended his 2015 season early. Dural, however, has plenty of talent when on the field. LSU's passing game leaves plenty to be desired, but it would not be surprising to see Dural improve once in the NFL with more opportunities.

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural is averaging less than 10 yards per reception and has one touchdown.

"Dural's in a tough situation because of the Tigers' shortcomings at the quarterback position," NFL Media's Chad Reuter wrote. "Dural can't control when the ball is thrown to him, but he can make the most of his opportunities if he beats physical coverage with violent hands, breaks tackles, catches the ball consistently and works hard to come back to his quarterback when the play breaks down. Scouts will give him points if they see that effort on film." Dural has good size and a sub-4.4 40-yard dash, so he's going to get a long look in the NFL.

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural returned to practice on Tuesday after recovering from a hand injury.

The hand injury was minor, but Dural has had to overcome a lot this offseason. Most notably, Dural finished last season on the sideline due to a disconnected hamstring. That injury plus poor dietary choices resulted in a 30 pound weight gain. Dural is seemingly back in shape and should team with Malachi Dupre as one of the SEC's top duos.

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural did not participate in Saturday's scrimmage due to a hand injury.

The injury bug has been chewing away at LSU throughout August, with Dural the latest casualty. In his case, at least, it doesn't appear to be anything of legitimate concern. HC Les Miles said that the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder was dealing with a relatively minor cut on his hand. He should be able to return to practice in short order. Dural suffered a far more serious injury in November of 2015 -- a torn right hamstring -- but has shown no signs of limitation in camp.

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural indicated that at one point this offseason, he had gained 30 pounds due to poor dietary decisions.

Before everybody starts to paste Dural's face onto Eddie Lacy's body to meme up the internet, it would be fair to point out that while Dural did put on around 30 pounds while recovering from a torn right hamstring, he has managed to shed that extra weight. Explained the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder (he had been up to 235 or thereabouts), "I didn’t like the fullback and tight end jokes, so I knew I had to slim down. I had to stay away from Popeyes. Oh man, I tried to do a no-meat diet, but that failed miserably. That failed miserably in like two days." Dural ultimately cleaned up his diet and got himself back into the shape he wanted. "It was the first time I ever had to worry about nutrition," he said. "Before, I was always running and always active, so I just never gained weight."

After suffering a disconnected hamstring last November, LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural is back to 100 percent ahead of his final collegiate season.

Dural flirted with entering the 2016 NFL Draft, but the injury and low production, thanks to LSU's offensive focus, likely propelled him back to college. Dural did not participate in spring activities, but Les Miles is very optimistic for his readiness when the Tigers open fall camp. Dural and Malachi Dupre make up one of the best receiving duos in the country.

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural (hamstring) will not participate in spring practice.

This was always likely going to be the case after Dural suffered a torn right hamstring in late November. The 6-foot-2, 182-pounder subsequently underwent surgery. He could well have been draft-bound had he not sustained that injury. As is, his initial timetable was placed at 3-4 months. While he should (theoretically) be healthy and ready to roll come August camp, spring's out the window. Last season, Dural caught 28 passes for 533 yards and a trio of touchdowns.

LSU redshirt junior WR Travin Dural announced he will return to school for the 2016 season.

The decision might have been different if Dural did not finish the season injured. The receiver will miss the next 3-4 months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn right hamstring. Dural's production does not match that of the top receivers (28 receptions for 533 yards, 3 touchdowns), but a big part of that is due to LSU's anemic passing offense. He would have missed the NFL Combine.

LSU redshirt junior WR Travin Dural will miss the next 3-4 months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn right hamstring.

Obviously this puts Dural out for the remainder of the season. The LSU receiver has flashed in the last two seasons, and many would presume that Dural would have much better success in a different offense with a different quarterback. This season, Dural caught 28 passes for 533 yards and three touchdowns. It seems likely that Dural is headed to the NFL.

LSU redshirt junior WR Travin Dural has a marquee matchup Saturday against stud Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves III.

You may not realize it because LSU's quarterback play has been so bad the past few seasons, but Dural's average of 19.5 yards per catch since 2013 ranks No. 8 in the FBS (minimum 50 catches). "If Florida's No. 12 rush defense is able to bottle up LSU RB Leonard Fournette, the Tigers will need Dural and QB Brandon Harris to team up for some big plays to beat the Gators," wrote ESPN's Todd McShay.

LSU redshirt junior WR Travin Dural posted four catches for 109 yards and a score in Saturday's 45-24 victory over South Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Dural is one of the country's best receiving talents, but he's rarely discussed because Brandon Harris hasn't developed quickly and HC Les Miles doesn't let Harris take chances. Harris, however, had the game of his life today, allowing both Dural and Malachi Dupre to go off. We can't recommend Dural in DFS until Harris proves this wasn't a fluke.
