Ohio State senior DT Tommy Schutt will not play against Notre Dame in the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl due to a broken foot.
In nine games this season, Schutt recorded 25 tackles (five for loss), 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. The 6-foot-2, 303-pound senior's absence is a bad, ahem, break for the Buckeyes' defensive front, as they're already down Adolphus Washington, who was suspended for the bowl showdown with Notre Dame following a solicitation citation earlier this month. Ohio State sophomore DT Tommy Schutt suffered a broken foot during a recent practice and will miss 6-8 weeks.

Buckeyes coach coach Urban Meyer confirmed that Schutt wouldn't return "until midseason," which likely rules the sophomore out for the first six games. Schutt played in 10 games last season as a true freshman. He was slated to be an integral cog of OSU's defensive line rotation to begin the season, backing up both tackle positions.
