Miami offensive coordinator/running back Thomas Brown has been in contact with transferring Clemson junior RB Tyshon Dye.

Brown has told Dye that he has a spot on the Hurricanes if he wants it. "He told me how many running backs they have on scholarship and that only one of them (Mark Walton) has experience, stuff like that," Dye said. According to, SMU and nearly 10 other schools have shown interest. Dye, a former four-star recruit, is leaving the defending national champions as a graduate transfer. Out of the prep ranks, he chose the Tigers over a host of suitors that included Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee and USC. Dye had 21 carries for 109 yards and a score last year.

Clemson junior RB Tyshon Dye will transfer.

An afterthought behind Wayne Gallman this year, Dye finished with 21 attempts for 109 yards and a touchdown. His Tigers career ends with 76 rushes for 351 yards and five touchdowns. Dye was ESPN's No. 123 player in the nation coming out of high school.

Dye redshirt the 2013 season after suffering from back and foot injuries. There is usually a six to nine month recovery window from a torn achilles, although many skill position players look very different after the injury.

Clemson freshman RB Tyson Dye is likely headed for a redshirt season due to an injured lower back.

"Doctors want to avoid surgery, which would come with 3 to 4 months of rehab, so they’re continuing to apply epidurals and will re-assess his status in four weeks," beat writer Aaron Brenner writes. Senior Roderick McDowell will continue to carry the load.
