Oklahoma State freshman RB Devon Thomas will not join the team.
The 18-year-old was charged with five felonies in the offseason, including shooting with the intent to kill, robbery with a firearm and first-degree burglary. Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy was asked about Thomas and refused to mention him by name. Instead, he said: "The roster that we handed out today are the players that will report next week. And if there’s a player that’s not on that roster, then he’s not a part of our team." It's very possible that the three-star recruit's football career is over. Jul 21 - 8:56 PM

Thomas, the Broken Arrow High School record holder for most rushing yards in a season and career, was a four-star member of the Cowboys’ 2014 recruiting class. If his involvement in this incident is proven, he'll never play a down in Stillwater.

The Tulsa World reports Oklahoma State freshman RB Devon Thomas is now facing five felonies.

The police report alleges that the 18-year-old Thomas and four others broke into a residence, forced a person into a bedroom and threatened to shoot him or her, and then waited for an acquaintance so that they could complete a drug robbery. Adds the paper: "When the second person arrived, the intruders at gunpoint stole his marijuana, money, shoes and clothing and instructed him to leave because they were going to "bust a cap," the robbery victim told police. After the victim got into his vehicle, one of the robbers fired at least one round that went through the vehicle’s rear windshield and nicked the driver’s head rest, according to Thomas’ arrest report. The bullet narrowly missed the driver, the report states." Police believe Thomas was brandishing the gun, which won't help him in a trial. Thomas was a three-star member of the Cowboys’ 2014 recruiting class, though it doesn't appear as though he'll ever play a down in Stillwater.

Devon Thomas, the No. 15 ranked RB in the 2014 recruiting class, announced that he hasn't wavered in his commitment to Oklahoma State.

Sports Illustrated published a report this week that alleged former Cowboy players received improper benefits from coaches and boosters. Thomas is OSU's second-highest ranked recruit and won't change his mind. "Pokes, ride or die," Thomas said. Mason Rudolph, the No. 7 ranked pocket-passing QB in the same class, is the school's highest-rated 2014 prospect. "I don't know all of the info of the situation," Rudolph said, "but as of now, I'm still a firm commit." Oklahoma State, as of this moment, hasn't lost any of its 20 commitments.
