NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter believes Florida junior CB Vernon Hargreaves III is an early favorite to earn All-American honors in 2015.
"Having already earned All-America recognition in his first two seasons, intercepting six passes and breaking up 24 others, it's a no-brainer to include Hargreaves on this list. He does not back down against larger receivers (he's listed at 5-foot-11, 192 pounds), winning hand play downfield, going up high on jump balls, and dislodging the ball whenever possible," Reuter wrote. The Gators prospect led the SEC with 13 pass breakups in 2014 and has recorded six interceptions and 24 pass breakups in just 24 career games. Jul 22 - 3:45 PM

He can press, he can play off, he's fast, and he makes plays and gets the ball out."

Florida junior CB Vernon Hargreaves III "is a technically sound corner who rarely gets beaten over the top thanks to his speed and agility to turn and run and wideouts," notes SB Nation's Dan Kadar.

"The knock on him is that he's not the biggest, but he's rates high in every other area," Kadar wrote. The analyst believes Hargreaves is the only player right now who could realistically enter into a debate with Ohio State junior defensive end Joey Bosa over who should be the top draft prospect entering the season. Hargreaves is the best corner in the land.

NFL Media ranks Florida junior CB Vernon Hargreaves III as the No. 2 defensive player in the country.

"As a freshman, he knocked an eventual early NFL draft entry out of a job. As a sophomore, he established himself as the best cornerback in the SEC," wrote NFL.com's Chase Goodbread. "This year, there's not much room for improvement for Hargreaves. He is good enough to break the normal field/boundary cornerback alignment and simply shadow the opponent's best receiver, if the new UF coaching staff chooses to use him that way." Hargreaves tied for the conference lead last season with 13 pass breakups. He chipped in three interceptions. If all goes according to plan, he'll be a top-10 pick in one year's time.

ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper has Florida junior CB Vernon Hargreaves III as his No. 5 overall prospect on his big board, and thinks he could be the "top CB taken in the 2015 draft, if available."

"What Hargreaves lacks in size, he makes up for in instincts and effortless fluidity in moving with receivers. He's not that small, really, at 5-11 and about 195 pounds, and I think he would have been the top CB taken in the 2015 draft, if available," Kiper wrote. The Florida prospect has definitely showed he's worthy of the praise, as he's recorded six interceptions in just 24 games, flashing cover skills to get Joe-Haden type comparisons. CBS Sports' Rob Rang sees Florida junior CB Vernon Hargreaves III as "a natural cover corner with excellent fluidity and light feet to remain in the hip pocket of receivers."

As do we. "He's alert and competitive, positioning his body between the receiver and his quarterback and showing superb body control, including hand-eye coordination, to harass pass-catchers," Rang wrote. "With another strong season in 2015, Hargreaves will likely consider making the early leap to the NFL, where he could prove to be the highest drafted defensive back from Florida since the Cleveland Browns made Joe Haden the No. 7 overall pick in 2010." Interestingly, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah compares Hargreaves to Haden.

Florida sophomore CB Vernon Hargreaves III had an interception in Saturday's Birmingham Bowl victory over ECU.

Hargreaves ends his sophomore campaign with three interceptions, a number that would have been higher if opposing teams didn't so consistently throw away from him. Hargreaves ranked No. 3 on Scout Inc.'s Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl's non-draft eligible rankings published last month. "He is a smooth athlete who possesses adequate size and shows great balance to mirror receivers when locked up in man coverage," they wrote. "The sophomore also has outstanding instincts and anticipation that allow him to be a playmaker. While he can continue to clean up his technique as a tackler, he is willing and aggressive in run support." NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah compares Hargreaves to Joe Haden.
