Arkansas State redshirt sophomore DT Dee Liner exited the spring as a starter.
"There were a couple people that we thought had a chance to win that job this spring, but he finished the spring as our starting 3-technique," Arkansas State DL coach Brian Early said. A former Alabama ace recruit, Liner was the No. 4 DT and No. 46 overall prospect in the 2013 class, per the 247Sports composites. "Every time we lined up and went live, the sucker showed up and he was making plays," Early said. "Whenever he was single-blocked, we couldn't block him this spring. The offensive line couldn't block him." The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Liner said he "really lost the love for the game of football" at Alabama when he was buried on the depth chart. Jul 11 - 6:11 PM

Alabama released sophomore DL Dee Liner from his scholarship, allowing him to transfer.

A ballyhooed 2013 recruit, Liner never redshirted but still found it difficult to crack Alabama's daunting depth chart. Liner must sit out the 2015 season if he transfers to an FBS program, though he'll retain two years of eligibility starting in 2016 because he hasn't yet used his redshirt.
